Have you visited Christian Fields lately?

It covers 60,000 square metres of natural land just off Eastern Avenue between Dimbles Lane and Curborough Road with FREE car parking.

The project to transform Christian Fields, Lichfield District’s first Local Nature Reserve has finally been completed and the partners involved in the Lichfield’s Community Local Nature Reserve project are celebrating the end results.

Volunteers have been working hard on many elements of the project, including members of Lichfield District Countryside & Parks Group, that have been working on the site over the year, and six Brownies who braved the cold weather in March to help create two wildflower meadows.

The £100,000 project was funded with £45,000 section 106 funding (developers’ contributions that have been negotiated by Lichfield District Council to support local infrastructure), £20,000 from Staffordshire Environmental Fund, £25,000 from Lichfield District Council and the Countryside & Parks Conservation Group (the amount represents the hours spent by CPCG volunteers working at the site combined with match funding provided by the council’s countryside team), and £10,000 in a number of small grants.

The site is managed by Lichfield District Council.

It’s now a haven for wildlife and a delight to walk around with a 140 metre accessible path. There’s a wetland area and a pond dipping platform.

Why not take a picnic? There are many benches for you to sit and relax and enjoy the carved wooden sculptures.

You can cross the pond over the newly installed boardwalk. Learn more with the information panels and check out the bird boxes designed by local schools (with a little help from a local artist).

As it matures the new wildflower area will bring hours of joy and there’s new woodland to explore as well!

I think I’ve found a new place for my daily walk!

This is truly a ‘hidden gem’ right here in Lichfield.
