From Lichfield during the Civil War to the city’s bawdier past, there are lots of summer tours to choose from. Some of the highlights include:

 

·       Stroll around the Gardens of Lichfield is a chance to visit Lichfield’s parks, green spaces and secret gardens. Taking place on Thursday 30 June at 7pm and Monday 11 July at 2.30pm and 7pm, the tour costs £3.

 

·       New for 2011 is Behind Close Doors, which offers a look at The Close, its past and present inhabitants and history. Taking place on Wednesday 20 July and Wednesday 4 August at 2pm, the tour costs £3 to £5.

 

·       Little ones can discover a host of interesting facts on the children’s Blood Thirsty Lichfield tour - on Thursday 4 August at 10.30am and Monday 8 August at 2pm. Tours cost £1.65, but children need to be accompanied by a paying adult.


Cllr Louise Flowith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, said: “Going on a walking tour is a good way to find out more about Lichfield’s past. It makes history come alive, and I am sure everyone who goes on one of our tours will see Lichfield in a new light.”

Lichfield is home to many famous people and this tour charts their history.

A walking tour around the pretty and historic village.
