FREE Blues on the Loose Music Festival in Lichfield

The event will take place on Friday 18th May at Lichfield Guildhall, Bore Street and Saturday 19th May at the Kingshead in Bird Street, and the Flamingo Tea Room in Tamworth Street.

 

Headlining Fridays event will be Tom Doughty. Tom Doughty has developed a truly masterful technique of playing lap slide guitar which is unparalleled within the music industry. His music and technique is acknowledged by his peers throughout the world. Tom's spellbinding picking, rhythm and touch amazes audiences with his take on acoustic roots music. A unique sound borne of adversity as Tom re learnt his craft following a permanent spinal injury. With three nationally and internationally acclaimed CD’s to his name, studio sessions, a growing reputation as a slide guitar teacher and workshop leader, Tom entertains audiences throughout the land. 

 

Kicking off the Friday evening at 8pm will be local jazz outfit Funktional and The Tom Woodman Band completes the lineup. 

 

On Saturday, a number of local bands will be joining us in the afternoon and evening at two of Lichfield's top music venues: the Flamingo Tea Room in Tamworth Street (3.30pm-7pm:Tom Anderson & Chris Buckle/Paul Francis/Downshift/Matt Thorpe & Friends) and the King's Head in Bird Street (8pm-midnight: Nick Dalmedo/Acoustic Warriors & The engine Room/The Neil Lewis & Matt Thorpe Band/Juke Joint Jammers).
