Folk Singers arrive in Lichfield

If you enjoy folk music, food and real ale, you'll love L2F - The Lichfield Festival of Folk presented by Lichfield Arts!

Starting today until 27th October, Lichfield will see some well known Folk Bands arrive in the City as they begin performing during the evenings at a FREE fringe festival which will then lead up to the Main Festival at The Guildhall.

Offering something for everyone, The Lichfield Festival of Folk presents:

  • Humour
  • nu-folk
  • Folk Rock
  • and more!

Itinerary includes:

Monday 21st October

Festival Starts - join the Lichfield Lighthouse Company in a rousing shanty session in the King's Head, Bird Street;

Tuesday 22 October

Try your hand at morris dancing at the George IV, Bore Street.

Wednesday 23 October

King's Head sing around with floor spots from Ian Henerey, the Walsall Poet Laureate and Ian Philpot.

Thursday 24 October

A pub quiz with a twist takes place in the King's Head on when teams are invited to answer general knowledge questions with some themes based on English traditions.

Friday 25 October

The main festival starts in the Guildhall with Kimber's Men, one of Britain's premier shanty sides who have taken the major festivals by storm with their impressive harmonies and boisterous interpretations all oiled with a generous lubrication of humour. Support comes from Jake Morgan and The Deacons.

Saturday 26 October

The city centre will host a wide range of morris sides from near and far as well as the Armitage Mummers and a Jack in the Green who will be exercising his impish sense of humour with shoppers. During the day there will also be the chance to get in some early Christmas presents with the Festival Craft Fair in the Guildroom, Bore Street plus a whole lot more!

Sunday 27 October

Afternoon starts with father and daughter duo Andy Fincham and Kate Akers who bring great accomplishment to guitar, melodeon and fiddle. They are followed by Lichfield's very own Wildfire Folk . This follows with highlights of the festival including John Kirkpatrick, The Vogwells, The Jigantics, PIG (Pretty Interesting Group) led by Hugh Crabtree (Feast of Fiddles) and more!
