Driving tests given the Green Light but it’s not a racing start.

Most centres are currently booked up until October, with a backlog of around 420,000 tests because of the pandemic, although you may be lucky enough to find a cancellation. It maybe worth checking the DSA website regularly to see if they have a suitable date available and for any test updates.

Which will have a knock on effect for local Driving Instructors according to Andy from Andy's Driving School here in Lichfield.

It’s also taking longer to obtain a provisional licence from the DVLA under the current restrictions, however you can go online up to 3 months before you turn 17 to apply, but of course you can’t get out on the road until you are 17!

With that in mind driving instructors are recommending that pupils wishing to book lessons following their 17th birthdays once they have applied for their provisional licence should contact their chosen instructor to book sooner rather than later.

You can also book your theory test with a provisional licence too. With up to a two month waiting list in some areas it might be worth booking a date for that too!

We’ve seen several articles in the news where people have lost a job opportunity due to the fact that their test was postponed during the current Government guidelines.

Don’t just take our word for it read more here from this article for Radio 1’s newsbeat.

Make sure you are ahead of the game and pre-book your lessons with your chosen instructor or try Andy today, he’s already taking bookings for August, September and October.

Contact Andy on 01543 401025 or drop him an email.
