 Dog Day Event Success

Lichfield District Council’s parks team invited dog lovers to a Wet Noses and Waggy Tails event at Chasewater Country Park on Sunday 20 May.

Roughly 500 people, many of whom brought their waggy-tailed friends, came to the event to see and take part in the dog agility displays and novelty classes.

On the day, 75 dogs were entered into the displays, which included obedience, agility and flyball, heelwork to music, and greyhound training.

Lots of people also entered their dogs into the classes. These included prettiest bitch, most handsome dog, best party trick, and the dog that looks most like its owner - which was the most popular class!

The canine awareness day also included dog micro-chipping for £5, a guided walk especially focused on dog walking in the country park, stalls, dog photography by Codsall Photographic, and refreshments.

There was also a celebrity guest appearance by Bobby, who starred as Toto in The Wizard of Oz at The Prince of Wales Theatre.
