If you visited the Lichfield Garrick in December you helped them to raise over £3000!

After packed houses and amazing reviews, the staff and cast of Lichfield Garrick’s Cinderella pantomime have helped to raise £3,218 for the We Love Lichfield Fund, in what will be the single biggest organisational donation in the fund’s history.

We Love Lichfield is the Lichfield Garrick’s 2015 charity of choice, and it’s the perfect start to the new year for the fund, which distributes grants of up to £1,000 to voluntary groups and good causes across Lichfield District.

The fund was mentioned on stage in each Cinderella performance to help raise awareness, and staff placed collection boxes throughout the theatre for the public to donate. With match funding, the amount will total almost £5,000.

Adrian Jackson, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Lichfield Garrick, said: “A donation of this size for We Love Lichfield is the icing on the cake from Cinderella. The show was a great success with superb reviews from the audiences and media alike, and a packed house every performance.

“We played to more than 25,000 people in four and a half weeks, many of whom travelled a distance to see the show, which was great for Lichfield as theatre goers also took advantage of the hotels, restaurants, bars and shops whilst they were in the city. For the pantomime to then raise money for local good causes at the same time makes it extra special for everyone involved.

“I hope we can continue raising substantial amounts of money for We Love Lichfield in the future."

Simon Price, Chief Executive of Arthur Price and Patron of the We Love Lichfield Fund, said: “I’d like to thank everyone at the Garrick for their hard work and to the audiences for their generosity.

“People’s kindness never ceases to amaze me and this substantial donation, the biggest we have ever received, will help benefit good causes across Lichfield District.

“I knew when the Garrick decided to make We Love Lichfield its charity of choice, the fund had gained a strong, substantial and generous partner, but this is amazing and simply the perfect start to 2015.”

Great to see local money going back into local causes.
