The Big Garden Bird Watch is an annual event run by the RSPB that requires people to count the number of birds and wildlife that pay a visit to their garden within one hour.

Bird populations are a good indicator of the health of the countryside, and allows us to keep an eye on the ups and downs of wildlife where we live.

The more people that register, the better and all you need to do is:

  1. Register online with the RSPB before the Garden Bird Watch weekend on 24th and 25th January to receive your FREE pack;
  2. Watch and record the number of birds that enter your garden or nearby green space;
  3. Submit your results.

What to Look For

  • Birds that like hanging feeders – Blue Tits, Long Tailed Tit, Great Tit
  • Birds that feed on the ground – Collared Dove, Blackbird, Dunnock, Wren
  • Feed anywhere birds – Blackcap, House Sparrow, Bullfinch, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Starling, Robin and Siskin.
  • Other wildlife – Badger, Grey Squirrel, Red Squirrel, Muntjac Deer, Roe Deer, Hedgehog, Slow Worm, Grass Snake.

We hope you can join in!!!!  Click here for even more information!
