Beacon Park Bat & Moth Night

There are nearly 2,500 species of moth in Britain, all of which play a vital role in the countryside through being active pollinators of many plants and a key food source for many insectivores, particularly bats.

As the sun goes down on Friday 8 June, Beacon Park’s rangers will set moth-friendly light traps so the group can experience the beauty and diversity of local moths up close.

Lichfield District Council’s countryside team will be at the event to lead a bat walk around the park and teach the group how to use bat detectors to identify which kind of bats are flying and feeding in the area.

The evening event costs £2.50 for adults and £1 for children.  The group will be meeting in the Discovery Hub, next to the bowling greens.

To book your place on the Bat and Moth Night, please call the council’s parks team on 01543 308869.
