Erasmus Darwin house will be welcoming, straight from his exploits on BBC's Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Roadtrip, Charles Hanson to appraise your treasures. If you have a family heirloom, a treasured momento or just an interesting piece you picked up at a car boot sale and would love to know more about it, bring it along between 11.00-4.00pm and the experts will be happy to take a look

 

Entry to the Museum is free on this day and refreshments will be available in our Georgian tearoom.

 

There will be a small charge of £1 per item assessed and all monies raised will go to the upkeep and running costs of Lichfield's hidden gem, Erasmus Darwin House.

Charles Hanson MRICS

 

 

Charles Hanson is an accredited member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Fine Art Surveyors. Having previously worked for Christies in London, Charles established Hansons Auctioneers in Derbyshire in 2005. His face is known to many for his regular appearances on BBC “Bargain Hunt”, both as an expert and an Auctioneer. He is the youngest expert on Bargain Hunt and has been appearing in the programme for 8 years.  He has also appeared in “Flog It”. At the present time he is also appearing on the new BBC show Antiques Road Trip.

 

Some of the items that Charles has sold at auction include the sale of Queen Victoria's bloomers for £5,000 and her stockings for £8,000.  A tiny creamware tea pot circa 1765, discovered in a box of items in Derbyshire sold for £69,000.

 

An original Sooty puppet was also sold by Hansons for £3,000 to the owner of the Sooty copyright who brought along Sue and Sweep to do their bidding, whilst a rare Nelson log from the Battle of Trafalgar sold for £8,000. Charles frequently conducts charity auctions and the year before last sold, on behalf of ex-England cricketer, Darren Gough, his winning Strictly Come Dancing outfit for £3,000.
