In recent years John Sergeant has returned to his first loves in broadcasting and entertaining, appearing as a guest in a wide variety of programmes, including Have I Got News for You, Room 101, and The News Quiz on Radio 4.
John has published his best-selling memoirs, Give Me Ten Seconds and also a book about Margaret Thatcher (Maggie – now out in paperback), who made him well known following the famous 'handbagging incident' outside the Paris Embassy two days before she resigned in 1990.
As part of the evening, John will present the Chamber of Trade & Commerce Awards to outstanding local businesses in Lichfield.
Twelve awards will be presented across categories including Best Fairtrade Business, and Best New Business. All the awards are voted for by local customers. A special Best in Business award will be presented to the business that receives the most votes across all categories.
The evening will begin at 7.30pm with a fascinating insight into John Sergeant’s career and the many different roles he has had during his remarkable career. This will be followed by the presentation of the awards, after which John will answer question from the audience.
