The Lichfield family firm put an incredible 2,584 lots under the hammer with a 93.4% selling rate across January.

The final sale of the month on January 24 broke the £100 per lot average for the first time at £106.10 per lot.

As well as a packed saleroom and numerous clients bidding via the telephone, that same sale also 1,262 bidders online across two auction platforms.

"Stunning - a cracking start to the year," said Mr Winterton.

"With more staff arriving soon, refurbishment in our offices and some big announcements in the pipeline, we've certainly started 2019 in style!"

New episodes of Bargain Hunt and Dickinson's Real Deal featuring Richard Winterton Auctioneers have been shown on BBC1 and ITV in recent weeks.

The Lichfield Auction Centre at Fradley Park has also been a hive of activity, with people flocking to the weekly free valuations on Tuesdays from 9.30am-4pm, where experts across the board can value jewellery, silver, antiques, coins, medals, whisky, wine, paintings, toys, glassware, ceramics, furniture, technology, collectables - you name it!
