Visited the National Memorial Arboretum yesterday. It is a wonderful, tranquil, beautiful place. It sits in 150 acres and offers lots of things to lots of people, but something to everybody. Firstly greeted by knowledgeable staff who can point you in the right direction. The entrance hall is impressive and you can just look around and reflect on the past. There is a lovely shop, a good cafe and a separate coffee shop just across the courtyard. Because the weather was horrible we went on the land train tour, covered and dry, jam packed with information about monuments that we passed. Also our driver was entertaining and knowledgeable. It lasts about 45 - 50 minutes and well worth the £6 price for adults. We are going to return and walk around so you can get right up to the memorials and read the plaques. Its not just older war campaigns, the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan and not just about the military. The Fire Brigade, Police and Ambulance along with many other civilian bodies. Please visit, pay the car parking at £3.00 for a full day, and try to spend as much as you can as the upkeep is a lot of money and the Arboretum gets no public money.<br>,

Everyone needs to visit this place. Run by volunteers, it is very well kept and laid out. It is free to go into 150 landscaped acres that contain memorials to Associations of Military bodies. Donations are appreciated.

I visited for the first time yesterday, having looked at the website I realized that my 83yr old father would struggle to get around the site so i booked a "Tailor Made Tour".
Money well spent.
We had a fantastic day despite poor weather.
We were met before we got as far as the information desk. Sue the lady assigned to be our guide for the day was lovely very helpful and knowledgeable.
After a chat to plan our day and a hot drink we set off on a buggy which is fully wheelchair accessible, we broke the tour by attending the service in the chapel at 11am. When we got back on the buggy Sue produced blankets for our legs as it was a little chilly.
At 1 o'clock we returned to the center for an included 2 course lunch with waiter service, on a reserved table set nicely with a tablecloth and personalized menu. Dave the volunteer looking after us was , again lovely.
And after lunch we went out again for a third trip round the site.
We finished out tour at 3pm as we were part of a larger visiting group, but would have been hosted longer had we required it.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The Arboretum itself is magnificent. Hundreds of beautiful monuments, glorious gardens and a wonderful sense of respect for all it serves to remember.

Dad wants to go back again, hopefully in better weather and use a mobility scooter to explore in more detail!
Thanks to everyone who made his day so special.

This is not our first visit and will not be our last, beautiful grounds, memorials and thought provoking information. Very helpful staff and volunteers. Plenty of walks, many places to sit and take in the beauty of the place. Both the restaurant and coffee shop serve good food and drinks at a quite reasonable price but like most places today the cakes are rather expensive. £3 per day car parking a snip, well laid out car park close to the entrance too. We only managed to see a small part of this wonderful place but will be back later in the year. Please allow plenty of time to take it all in.

We visited on a very rainy day but that did not spoil the visit. There are so many memorials to visit, that we shall definitely return. Entrance is free but car parking is £3 for all day and goes towards the arboretum. The restaurant was very busy, there was a good selection of food.
The exhibition indoors was free when we visited and was excellent

If you have not visited then now is not too soon The car park is £3 that's for the day and its a donation towards its upkeep
The staff are friendly pleasant and helpful
They ask for voluntary donations and there are places to deposit But why not make a donation at reception you can gift aid
There is a restaurant/cafeteria that provides good food at a reasonable price
The memorials are brilliant and moving
There is a road train for those less active it does a tour of the grounds and takes about 45mins a commentary is relayed to you as the tour progresses
We had a great time and recommend a great day out

This is an amazing place to easily spend a couple of hours, or longer. Some beautiful thought inspiring memorials and monuments across the whole site, it's hard not to feel emotional. The Polish Forces Memorial and the Shot at Dawn memorials actually brought me to tears, and the Armed Forces Memorial was mesmerising in so many ways.
There are plenty of paths to walk around and although the car park was busy it wass easy not to see many people as everyone was doing their own thing and going their own way.
Really worth a visit and although entry is free I urge you to donate to such an amazing place.

Really good place to visit. Wheelchair access to most parts and it is possible to hire scooters. You can make guided tours to see all the memorials either in buggies and a land train. Memorials to all the different military battalions and overseas military. Also memorials to other civilian groups. Prince William is a patron. Too much to take in in one day. Very moving. Reccommend.
