The Vantis Challenge 2010 again exceeded everyones expectations as over £60,000 is raised for two of Leicestershires greatest charities LOROS and Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young people. The amazing event was put together by Vantis accountancy firm just on the London road as you go into Leicester.

This is the third year of running this event and in total the local businesses have managed to raise over £190,000. Patric Phelan in his speach at the event said "This is an amazing achievement by all the businesses that have taken part over the 3 years. When you consider the finacial climate that they have achieved this in it becomes even more staggering".

The winners of the "Most Innovative Idea" award was given to Parkers Motor Services who seem to have cycled all over the East Midlands and half of Lincolnshire to raise nearly £5000. The winners of the "Most Money Raised" award was given to Barclays Corporate who put on a golf tournament and raised nearly £6000. All in all this is a great example of local Leicester businesess coming together for a great cause to help the local communities in Leicester by supporting the two main Hospices LOROS and Rainbows.

Dave Andrews of BBC Radio Leicester and a well know supporter and volunteer for Rainbows compared the evening which was held at the Leicester Porche Dealership in Thurmaston where fantastic catering put together by Janice and her team from The Quarter Restaurant got the evening off to a fantastic start with their take on a Leicestershire Meze. There were performances throughout the evening with the pinnacle being a young girl of 16 "Jemma" sang a solo to a packed audience even though she was feeling rather poorly on the night and didn't miss a note.

Rainbows Hospice CEO Colin Richardson and LOROS cheif fund raiser Marisa Spiteri took turns in thanking all the businesses that took part this year and previous years for their fantastic efforts on their behalf to raise much needed funds to carry out their work. Both found it amazing that they receive so much support from the Leicester Business sector as well as members of the local public.
