A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story

Written by Charles Dickens, adapted by Mark Gatiss, and by arrangement with Nick Hern Books

Performed by graduating students of BA Acting for Contemporary and Devised Performance

As the cold, bleak Christmas Eve night draws in, the penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge is confronted by the spirit of his once business partner, Jacob Marley.

Bound in death by the chains of greed and heartlessness, Marley urges Scrooge to end his miserly ways or suffer the same fate. Will three further eerie encounters entice Scrooge to embrace the true spirit of Christmas?

Mark Gatiss’ spine-tingling adaptation of Dickens’ tale of redemption is faithful to the soul of this much-loved festive ghost story, that continues to haunt all who encounter it.

Don’t miss the unique opportunity to experience this seasonal classic in Rockingham Castle’s atmospheric Great Hall.

Join the ranks of the privileged few to have seen the works of Charles Dickens performed at Rockingham Castle, as graduating year students from the University of Northampton tread the boards in the shadow of their Victorian counterparts in this exclusive performance.

Your ticket includes a welcome drink and sweet treat in our Panel Room, where Dickens directed and performed special performances for the Watson family and their household staff. You are also invited to explore our Dickens collection in The Long Gallery where you can learn more about Dickens and his fondness for Rockingham Castle.
