KRFC and Cransley Hospice Trust are delighted to announce a new and exciting two-year event-based partnership.
The two established Kettering organisations and their fundraising activities have been at the heart of the north Northamptonshire community for many years and the relationship has been born out of a common goal to bring the community together to raise £50,000 which will be split between the two neighbours.
Rachel Herrick, Director of Income Generation and Communications said, “We welcomed the opportunity to be partnered with KRFC for these events and look forward to working with the team to bring the ideas to fruition for the broader community which will help us to reach the fundraising target.”
The coronavirus pandemic has affected the fundraising events of both partners who have had to cancel or postpone many of their planned summer fundraising events. The partnership officially kicks off on the 1st of July and will be centred around at least 4 joint fundraising events spread over two years.
For the first event, the Rugby Club and Cransley Hospice are asking people to flex their muscles for ‘The Million Kilogram Challenge’ on Saturday 25th July.
Contestants taking part in the fundraising challenge will be working together to lift a total of 1,000,000 kilos on the day. Whether at the rugby club lifting weights or lifting cans of baked beans at home, the weights will be cumulatively added together to see if a 1,000,000 Kilos can be lifted in a day. Full details of the event and how to enter can be found on either the Cransley Hospice or Kettering RFC websites.
Doug Bridgeman from KRFC said “Kettering Rugby Club is delighted to announce its agreement with Cransley Hospice Trust.
“Cransley Hospice and KRFC are very close geographically, so this as an opportunity to cement our relationship whilst acknowledging that many of our members and their families have benefited from the Hospice’s care and support.
“There is already an existing special affinity as both parties have worked together on a number of projects over the past few years. Cransley Hospice have run their annual ‘Cycle for Cransley’ from Waverley Road and the Club has raised money for the Hospice at the Beer Festival and match day luncheons including Ladies Day.
“We have now agreed to expand our collaboration to benefit both parties and demonstrate how two local establishments can help the whole community. This new agreement will see both parties working together on a 50/50 basis to organise a number of new fundraising projects.
“Existing events such as the ‘Cycle for Cransley’ run by the Hospice and the ‘Kettering Beer Festival’ run by KRFC will not form part of this agreement. Waverley Road will continue to host and support the running of the ‘Cycle for Cransley’ event which is a hugely successful day in the Hospice’s calendar.
“Finally, both organisations are looking forward to their first joint project; The Million Kilogram Challenge’ which will take place on Saturday 25th July 2020. Full details of this event around lifting weights will be announced in the next few weeks and we look forward to everyone helping us make this inaugural event a fantastic day to make us all proud.”
