We stayed for one night whilst visiting family, all staff were really friendly, Rob’s food was really good, the beef and ale pie was the best I’ve had, great portions too. The pub is in a peaceful location, with lovely gardens. Highly recommend, we will definitely stay here again 😊

Popped in on the off chance and was pleased that we did. Timothy Taylor Landlord was well kept and made for a good pint. We had the fish finger sandwich which was really very good. Staff were friendly. It was a Monday lunchtime too and there were a good number of guests which is always a good sign. So for an off the cuff visit I really cannot fault The Stag.

We were asked to do a blind tasting for the launch of “Ruby Tuesday” night at The Stag.
Nothing to do with the Rolling Stones but all about Ruby = Ruby Murray in rhyming slang = Curry, a weekly event to start in March.
3 different curries were provided, you may choose from a weekly selection - beef, chicken, lamb, mild to fiery, vegan too (all super tasty) - and, in addition
Coconut and plain rice
Naan
Dhal
Poppadums with mango chutney
All for just £47.50 for two.
There is a selection of puddings which changes on a monthly basis, so leave a little bit of room for that, and a great selection of beers, wines and non-alcoholic drinks at sensible prices.
Honestly aching after all we ate, you will really have to try this.

Popped in for a Sunday lunch (2 x beef) en route to Wolverhampton. Very nice food at a reasonable price, friendly staff and a selection of beers. Thank you, will definitely go again if feeling peckish when that way again 👍

Went here for a pre booked Christmas meal with a group of 12
Food was delicious atmosphere good prices good.
Service not so great. I arrived a couple of minutes after the rest of the party due to traffic. Was not asked if I would like a drink at all. Had to ask myself after the starters were cleared away. The waitress was quite rude. Left some main course plates And gravy jug on table throughout pudding but took away the cream before the mince pies were served, with no plates. No point did she ask us if we needed any more drinks and was abrupt demanding we pass her empty plates.
Was a shame, as we were impressed with the dinner just not the Service.

Attended a wedding here recently, it was one of the best I’ve been to. The marquee was beautiful making it a great venue, good food and we had a wonderful time dancing to the music provided by the band and DJ. A very happy memorable occasion.

Only stopped by for a quick visit but they couldn't of been more friendly and helpful, my friends at impression one (who were staying there for a few weeks) couldn't have spoken more highly of them! So will always be a stop for me whenever in the arena!

We chose the stag to host a celebration for near 40 family and friends for lunch and drinks on Sunday afternoon. Rob & team were absolutely fantastic providing us a huge amount of space in the marquee in the garden. The staff were extremely accomodating of last minute food choices (and guests!) and the food service was super efficient, especially given the number of people. We had a fantastic time and our guests have been commenting on how good the food and venue were. The portions were huge, hot, and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend the stag, thanks Rob & team for your hospitality!

Please ignore the 2 recent negative reviews from people who went to my friend Dan's wedding yesterday, they're clearly talking out of their rear ends, here's the reality: Rob, the owner, and his team went above and beyond to make Dan's day as good as it could be. The food was excellent, I had the fish and can confirm it was immaculate, I also tried some of my partners hunters chicken and that too was incredible.
The delay in service was actually caused by the guests turning up late and deciding they couldn't be bothered to sit down for their food. The staff actually had to actually throw some food away and cook the meals again because of this.
The wine was actually chosen by the groom so it had nothing to do with the pub and everyone else who drinks wine said that it was nice so those complains are not valid.
The staff were absolutely lovely throughout and, as I said before, worked incredibly hard to make the day amazing.
The pub itself is a proper English pub. It does not look or feel dated at all, it's got the exact vibe you would expect from an English pub. It was built in 1766, so you cannot expect everywhere to be disabled accessible, in many places it's pretty much impossible to add things such as ramps for wheelchairs etc.
So to summarize: The food was incredible, the staff were amazing, the pub as a whole is a lovely place and the negative reviews from the wedding are total rubbish.
If I'm back in the area, I will most definitely be popping in for a meal or at least a drink again.
