A Photographic Taxi Tour of Kensington and Chelsea

When Amitours, a Kensington and Chelsea taxi company, offered me a free tour of the Royal Borough in exchange for some photographs, I couldn’t resist. Amitours provided a knowledgeable chauffeur for the occasion and we were away.

Researching the area unravelled a lot of history previously unknown to me, having studied in the area I always taken my surroundings for granted, treating it as a destination rather than a place.

From Sir Hans Sloane, standing proud overlooking his eponymous square – a historical figure celebrated throughout London; to the Albert Memorial, overlooking “Albertropolis” (or South Kensington as it is now referred). His central axis aligned with the central axis of the Royal Albert hall and The Natural History Museum – aligning the two prospects of science. From the cheeky doorman at world famous Harrods to an eerie early morning shot beneath Battersea Power Staion.

Please visit the photo album to see more of the beautiful Royal Borough.
