Whilst in Jersey if you get chance go to the Bass & Lobster Food House, you will not be disappointed.
The food is delicious and the service is second to none. The restaurant has a lovely feeling and great ambiance. The specials board had an amazing choice of fresh fish. I was lucky enough to have dinner with a close friend we both could not get past the lobster tempura with Asian slaw which was as good as we thought it was going to be. I had Monkfish cheeks and he had a burger with black pudding both were delicious and we were swapping food like an old married couple!Make room for sweets - they are great and should not be missed.
To top it all the head chef and owner is Welsh (but I am biased) and his lovely wife looks after the serving side and is so welcoming!Great value and couldn't fault it.

Visited B&L for a celebratory meal - and was not disappointed! I’d visited before when it was a run by the Pottery but it’s certainly gone up a level. Service - excellent; Food - outstanding! We had Thai Salmon & Scallop as starters and Bass/Lobster with dauphinois jersey royals & Monkfish for mains (all from specials board)... amazing, the best ever in 10+ years in Jersey! 👏👏👏. The red thai ice-cream (served as a savoury accompaniment) was the highlight!

This restaurant is nice, very much a fine dining feel but was quieter than I expected and it lacked a bit of atmosphere. Given the name of the restaurant there wasn’t as much seafood on the main menu as I expected but there were seafood specials. The waitresses were efficient but not intrusive. We had oysters to start which were delicious. I opted for scallops and crispy pork belly which was a little disappointing as the pork belly was not remotely crispy although the meat itself was nice. My husband had the fish from the specials board (can’t remember which one) and that was lovely. All in all it was a pleasant meal but would probably try somewhere else next time.

Said our 5 year old. Not quite sure on what he was basing this he was eating ice cream at the time, and had also tried and loved scallops and crab. However I’d tend to agree with him it was very good, and service excellent. They do slightly different dishes to the run of the mill ones so it’s all fresh and interesting. Also don’t need to be told to bring children’s main with your starters and brought his ice cream quickly too. Clearly experienced!

Lunch here sitting outside in the sunshine was a very pleasant experience indeed.
I decided to splurge on their surf and turf type plate of fillet steak and lobster in tempura batter. The sauce on the perfectly cooked fillet was very good, an excellent flavour, colour and texture. My partner had fish of the day with really tasty chips and a little pot of pea purée.
The fish was plaice which I haven't tasted since childhood. It was a light and delicate flavour and the batter was tasty and crisp. Forgot to mention the bread and flavoursome butter we were given to start with, very nice!Had a look at the dessert menu because I believe it is rude not to, didn't indulge as some of the flavour combinations were a bit way out for me.
Would like to return to sample more of their menu.

I choose this as I love sea food and the reviews were very good, to start with we had a nice bottle of champagne and oysters all very enjoyable, however it then started to go wrong. The restaurant was not busy, but there was a 30 mins gap between starters and mains, one of our party has a nut / gluten allergy, however the starter was not as requested and made her ill, gluten free bread not being delivered etc., the mains were expensive and portions small, for example the skate wing looked to have been cut in half, this was for a £30+ price. The steak dishes were not cooked as requested; rare coming out as medium and again small portions. So this was not a great experience, after explaining our frustrations management did reduce our bill and we were satisfied by this. Looking at other reviews I hope this was an isolated case, maybe the chef was off?

In the past I visited another seafood restaurant in the island serving mussels from Scotland, so it was very refreshing to hear that all the fish on the menu were previously swimming nearby. The service was a little slow but we all found the food delicious and fairly priced.

Can't fault the service or most f the food but the bream was disappointing. I thought it was common knowledge that if you serve fish with the skin on it should be crisped -scraping the slimy grey off to the side of the plate is not pleasant!

We ate here recently and were very impressed by the great service and quality of the food.

We went for a family lunch and had several different dishes from the menu, all beautifully presented and delicious!

We would highly recommend it if visiting the area.

There’s nothing really wrong with this restaurant but it was just very average in our view. It was very noisy on the evening we visited but that can’t be helped.

We hadn’t been to the Bass & Lobster for quite some time due to demands of childcare, plus we’d had a couple of not quite so good experiences the last couple of times we’d dined there. So, babysitter arranged, off we went for a Friday evening dinner. I’m happy to report it was back to it’s best ! We skipped starter but the restaurant kindly brought us an amuse bouche of beetroot gravlax which was yummy (it actually features as a starter and I’d highly recommend it). For mains, we both chose off the board. I had Surf and a Turf and my wife Sea Bass. Both were superb, my only irritation that my wife kept helping herself to my truffle chips which disappeared too quickly. No starter means dessert - again splendid ! My wife chose the pavlova and started making those When Harry met Sally Meg Ryan noises. I think she liked it. I had a burnt chocolate almond tart thing which was very nice but perhaps slightly too smokey for my own palate. All this was accompanied by an Argie Malbec which was very good value and highly drinkable. We left very happy and will return soon. Well done to Anna and her team !

There is a very good set menu but i chose from the specials board and was not disappointed. I started with Lobster tempura and Asian slaw with pineapple, mango and chilli sauce and followed it with Scallops,Jersey asparagus, cauliflower puree, tomato salsa and Parma ham crisp. It was delicious and beautifully presented. With chocolate brownies for dessert and great coffee to finish I couldn't have asked for a better meal all served up by friendly and helpful staff.

We went for a Father's Day lunch with my Dad and husband. The meal was absolutely delicious, from the home made bread to the chocolates with coffee and everything in between. The service was also superb, with a team of young people who seemed genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their work.

This was a first visit; lunchtime for five people. We received a pleasant welcome and were served with homemade bread whilst we made our choices from the £15 lunch menu. Ample choice for both meat and fish eaters. I opted for the Caesar salad (possibly he best I’ve had anywhere) and the fish and chips (beer battered cod served with delicious chips sprinkled with parmesan) which came with a side of pea purée and tartar sauce. There was a wide choice of desserts including homemade ice creams (vanilla, chocolate and hazelnut for me whilst another guest went for the Christmas pudding variety). With wines and a tip we spent £22 a head for what was a splendid lunch; not rushed and a very friendly service. Definitely worthy of a return visit. Car parking is on site and nearby in this delightful part of the island.

Booked lunch for my hubby and myself to celebrate our anniversary. Despite some negative reviews recently I have to say the food was just sublime with amazing quality that’s locally caught and produced. I had the crab and lobster bisque as a starter, a scallop and tempura beef as a main and my hubby had the turbot with samphire and jersey royals all of which delighted the senses and was just unbelievable. Over and above this, the Manager was incredible. She went above and beyond what was expected. We received a free entree which consisted of beef medallions on a bed of pototoe salad and topped with a quails egg and then further to our surprise and delight receive a mouth watering dessert for our anniversary made up of brownies and lashing of cream and meringue.....oh my word thank you so much The Bass and Lobster for a gastronomic experience. We have been living in Jersey now for 5 months and by far this has been the best dining experience. Well done to the fantastic team at The Bass and Lobster.

Many people I met during a recent business trip raves about this place so it began with high expectations. The food was good but not anything to rave about. My risotto with smoked fish had three bits of fish in what was a fairly ordinary and bland risotto. It wasn’t expensive but perhaps the reputation is beyond the actuality.

Sadly I was disappointed after hearing good reviews. I felt let down by the staff not much customer care. Mix up on the order when it came out. Food was good quality but the fish and chips lacked fish more batter than fish. No complaints about the quality of the food. I felt we were given choosing off a set menu as there was ten of us and they had already had a busy lunch service. I’m going to give it one more try just two of us to see if they can improve.

On a trip to Jersey we were pointed in the direction of this wonderful culinary experience.
We ate from the set menu with an open mind as to the quality of the food. We order ed, whilst waiting for our starters the home made bread arrived with two different types of local butter. Mouth watering would not describe what a delight this was light in texture very tasty on the palette.
Our starters arrived Fish Cake pour moi and Lobster & Crap Bisque for my girlfriend. Quality quality quality. Mains arrived Sea Bass On Jersey Royal Salad. I had locally sourced Cod with Hand Cooked Chips Tartar Sauce and Pea Puree. WOW.
Starting to feel very very full we shared the Brioche Bread and Butter Pudding expecting it to be a little heavy it was surprisingly light tasty and complimented our meal.
This venue has a great atmosphere very very attentive and knowledgable staff who praise the local ingredients used in their food. Some of which came from the restaurants garden.
We have one day left of our trip and will be returning for lunch which is even better value than the evening meal we had.
This is a must visit and for quality and value for money unbeatable.

We called on the off chance after visiting Mont Orgueil and wished we’d found this fabulous place before our last day on hols. We opted for the £15 3 course lunch special and couldn’t believe the choices. Expecting small portions for that price we couldn’t have been more wrong. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious and full size. The fish and chips were particularly good and the home made ice cream was outstanding. The service was attentive and courteous. We couldn’t recommend this place more highly.
