We've ticked off a good number of restaurants during our Jersey visits over the years, particularly with our trips coinciding with Tennerfest season but The Bass and Lobster was one that to this point that we hadn't got around to. Well, after this meal it may well take the crown as the best one yet. This was a wonderful meal. The staff were wonderful, so friendly and personable and happy to offer recommendations. I really liked the menu too - it was more flexible than a lot of Tennerfest menus tend to be, with the option to mix and match all sorts of different dishes and specials from the various menus. It's also very apparent that this is a restaurant that likes to allow it's chefs to improvise and show off their creativity - right from the bread that was brought out pre meal with a couple of different homemade butters. The trio of pork main course was inspired - whoever created the pork, apple, beetroot and goats cheese sausage is a genius. And speaking of genius, the ice cream and sorbet board is an extraordinary thing - my combination of a scoop of lobster bisque and a scoop of Black Bomber cheddar stands amongst the best desserts I've ever eaten and my wife was equally full of praise for her rhubarb and custard pud. I absolutely adored this place and it is a definite return visit for next year. Amazing.

This restaurant was recommended by a local and we would pass on that recommendation. We were not disappointed with our 'Tennerfest' lunch. Both the service and food were excellent. Much of the food is locally sourced or foraged. The 'chips' were the best I've ever tasted and I had to resist the temptation to order more. If you like ice-cream this is the place to go. We'll be back next time we are in Jersey.

My husband’s recommendation that suited us both perfectly.
Friendly owner and waiter, The most fantastic starter and main course that exceeded all expectations of the tenerfest season. To top it up I had the panacota made with coconut milk. This made my day as I dairy free.

We decided to visit this restaurant having liked the menu for the tennerfest. It is also a good location for us. The restaurant has a relaxed and casual feel about it. The staff were so kind and welcoming. The food was amazing ! We chose three courses which were extremely filling as the portion sizes were good so we all were fit to burst when we left but we couldn't resist the desserts which were incredible. Highly recommended.

As regular visitors to Jersey we had never come across this restaurant until last year when someone recommended it to us. It is now our “must go to” place whenever we visit the island. This time we tried the Tennerfest menu. £15 for a sumptuous three course lunch which was, without doubt, exceptional value for money. We arrived mid week without a booking but we were quickly found a table in an already busy restaurant. The service was attentive without being intrusive, the atmosphere relaxed and the food was delicious & well presented. They have a huge selection of unusual ice creams & sorbets. I tried blue cheese ice cream with poached pear. Yes unusual but delicious non the less. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is one of my favourite restaurants on the island, I try to visit whenever I am in Jersey, the food is always excellent with a large choice to cater for all requirements. I went there during Tennerfest, outstanding value, each course was beautiful. I had the best fishcake I have ever had, followed by Trio of pork, which was heavenly and a lovely fruit pavlova.
To compliment the first class food the service is also first class, exceptionally helpful, friendly staff but still remaining professional.

My wife is on a gluten/wheat free diet which makes casual eating out quite difficult.
When we booked the Bass and Lobster, I was asked if we had any special dietary requirements, (which is quite unusual) and said my wife needed gluten free.
When we arrived we were shown to our table, given menus to browse and talked through the extensive specials board. My wife read through the menu and said she was worried she couldn’t see much that was suitable for her or that she would like. Just then, the waitress came over, asked if she was right in noting that my wife needed gluten free and proceeded to talk through the menu and advising on which dishes were either gluten free or could be adapted - e.g. traditional fish and chips but the fish would be grilled rather than fried in batter and other adaptations of their dishes. This was very, very welcome as we are new to the gluten free diet and it made such a difference to our dining experience. Then to crown the experience, she was brought a warm gluten free ‘bread’ roll, which she said was very tasty.
Equally important is that the food was very, very good too. I had one of the specials as a starter, dressed crab, which was full of flavour, and then the best piece of liver I can remember. My wife had ostrich as her main course, which she was uncertain about when ordering, but thoroughly enjoyed it and we will look out for this as an alternative to steak.
All in all a really enjoyable casual dining experience

Had a recent break staying at the Maison Gorey on Jersey. Fantastic weather for October.
The guest house is within easy walking distance of Gorey centre, where there are several excellent places to eat. However, just around the corner from the Maison Gorey is the Bass & Lobster restaurant, so we ate here on a couple of occasions. Excellent food; excellent service. The scallops were divine!

£15 for 3 courses (during Tennerfest) and each of them were stunning!! I had crab & lobster bisque, skate main course and poached pear with stilton ice cream for sweet. It is one of my favourite locals in Gorey but it also has to be one of the best on the whole Island. Don't miss it.

Today was our second visit to the Bass and Lobster, you really cannot beat it. The service is great, warm and welcoming and always prepared to give great recommendations. The passion the entire team have for the food is really comforting. The ambience is nice and relaxed. It’s great for any occasion whether you are dining with your partner or having a family get together.
Not forgetting the food! It really doesn’t get any better than here. The menu is so well thought out, great variety of fish and shellfish however great choice of meat for the carnivores.
We went here today for a roast and it was incredible! We went for roast beef and lamb both of the meats were cooked perfectly and the accompaniments were to die for.
If you are hungry enough for a dessert, I recommended trying one (or two) if their 39 flavours of ice cream. I had the dulce de leche flapjack with the bomber cheese (don’t knock it til you’ve tried it).
The value for your food here is truly amazing. You’re getting Michelin star food for the price of a meal you would have in a chain restaurant.
Please make sure you go I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

2nd time at The Bass and Lobster, once for dinner and the other time for lunch, both times we received absolutely delicious meals. The passion, quality of service and dedication is there for all to see. Imaginative menu and fantastic recommendations given by the staff. Very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for a Michelin restaurant, not to say that it isn’t classy either. Could not recommend them enough, don’t think twice about visiting and be sure to listen to the owners/staff wise recommendations, evidently know there stuff!

I visited here with friends for dinner. The food was fabulous and the service was great. A little slower as the restaurant filled up but the food more than made up for it. Well cooked, fresh and good portions. The ice cream and sorbet menu for dessert has a huge range of home made and unusual flavours! Worth a visit!

Not to be underestimated, the outside may look a little plain. The food inside most definitely isn’t. Fabulous food and fantastic service. Capped off by an eclectic selection of home made ice creams and sorbets. Who knew Cheddar Cheese and Thai Red Curry ice cream would even work. You’re in for a treat.

We absolutely loved this place, from the outside you would think it was an average looking restaurant, it most certainly isn't. The staff were so lovely and friendly, the food was out of this world, literally the best meal we've had out ever, the only time that would match this was on a 6 star cruise we went on. We loved this place so much we went twice in our week stay. we were given a taster size starter on the house as they acknowledged we visited 2 days previous. They offer the main menu along with 1, 2 and 3 course set menu, great value, 3 courses was £25. I had the same for main course on both occasions as so nice which beer battered catch of the day. Yummy.
I would definitely go back there without any hesitation, it was like a Michelin star restaurant and service, massive compliments to the chef and waiting staff.

We had booked a table for lunch yesterday and on arrival were greeted very warmly by the lovely Anna with a glass of excellent Provence Rose and a basket of complementary homemade bread and butter. We chose the £15 midweek set lunch menu and what amazing value this menu is. The food is delicious and quality superb. I chose fishcake to start, the pork as a main and homemade blackberry & thyme icecream. The homemade sorbet and icecream menu is laid out on a large blackboard and takes some choosing. The choice is immense. Highly recommended

Visited on a Wednesday evening and was lucky to get a table.
£20 for a main starter of scallops, which were beautifully presented and delicious. The menu even had the diver’s names on. You can’t get much more locally sourced than that!
Tried some home made ice cream for dessert - horseradish, beetroot and truffle! Amazing!

We found The Bass and Lobster on trip advisor while holidaying at Rozel Bay and picked it because it was one of the highest rated restaurants outside of St. Hellier. We were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and genuinely seemed to want us to enjoy our dining experience. The menu choice was very good and all the dishes were excellent. There is limited car parking outside but there are car parks within easy walking distance. A great find that I would definitely recommend.
