Building of Children's Hospice for West Yorkshire to commence soon
17th August 2010

The West Yorkshire Forget me not Trust are getting closer to realising the dream of a Childrens Hospice for the people of West Yorkshire.  Over the last 10 years or so more and more people have become involved in trying to make it a reality. The target is to raise £3m to get the hospice daycare centre and bedrooms built, funds currently stand at £2.1m which is sufficient to get the daycare centre built.

Hopefully construction will start by the end of 2010 which will be a great milestone and reward for hundreds of peoples combined efforts.

Once the building is completed then fund raising must continue to cover annual running costs estimated to be £1.5m - no easy task. Did you know that adult hospices receive around 40% government funding but childrens hospices are lucky to get 4%?

There are now 6 shops around the area which will generate some funds and which anyone can support by donating quality items and of course purchasing good sold.

On 26th September at 10.15am there will be a 'Nun Run', a one mile family fun run starting at Eureka in Halifax - the runners dress up as nuns (outfits provided). Registration is £10 and anyone is welcome to join in. If they wish runners can get personal sponsorship to raise additional funds for the charity. To register call 01484 487570.
