Redrow’s Simon Longley has won an NHBC ‘Highly Commended’ award at the national NHBC annual Health and Safety Awards.

A site manager at Redrow’s Langley Grange development has received a ‘Highly Commended’ award at the NHBC’s annual Health and Safety Awards.

Simon Longley has been awarded the sought-after Health and Safety title for his work on the development located in Scissett.

Now in their tenth year, the awards are given to site managers who demonstrate an outstanding level of health and safety management from planning through to execution. These awards are the only health and safety awards ceremony exclusively for the construction industry and recognise site managers who prioritise the health and wellbeing of their teams.

Simon was shortlisted for commended status in May and following on from this achievement, he was then one of three Redrow site managers selected for the ‘highly commended’ award and was presented with it at an awards ceremony at the beginning of July.

With over 17 years’ experience as a site manager, Simon trained as an apprentice stone and brick mason. Before joining Redrow, Simon was a senior site manager at Taylor Wimpey but has now worked for Redrow for four years this September and is juggling his busy work life with being a dad to four year old twins, Connor and Macy.

Simon said: “I’m just so proud of the site team and what we have achieved at this fantastic development. This is definitely my greatest career achievement to date and my wife Kirsty has been such a great support system for me throughout my career.”

“It’s a great feeling to be recognised by the NHBC and to receive the highly commended status. I live locally to Langley Grange so I’ve always felt a sense of pride to know that myself and the team have made a positive impact in the local community. The team I work with on a day to day basis is fully committed to working as safely as possible and as site manager I pride myself on creating a safe environment for everyone, not just onsite, but in the surrounding community too.”

John Tutte, Executive Chairman at Redrow, commented: “We’re pleased to report that a record number of our site managers received a Pride in the Job award from the NHBC. It’s testament to the fantastic work and commitment from our team that we are able to pick up so many awards this year.

“I am proud of all of our award-winning site managers. I wish all of today’s winners the very best of luck for the next round in the autumn.

“The increasing number of high-achievers at Redrow is testament to the company’s commitment to learning and development.”
