o matter your age or ability, social dancing is suitable for everyone. It's a great way to keep physically and mentally fit, providing good aerobic exercise with the faster dances and mental stimulus throughout! So for those that find going to the gym boring, then this is for you and you won't even feel that you are 'working out'. For those who just want to enjoy pleasant company and share a fun hobby then dancing is for you - we make our classes and events social occasions and we will guarantee that you will make new friends whilst you learn. We'll be aiming to get you dancing for our next social event!
Regular classes in Ballroom and Latin American dance for beginners and for those that may have had some previous experience but would like to brush up on their dance techniques begin soon. Classes are very informal and designed to be fun and enjoyable, and you will receive individual attention as well as being able to practice together with others.
We would welcome you to either come on your own or with a partner and we are happy to accept same sex couples who wish to join in with the group.
"Dancercise is a diverse and dynamic dance and performing arts school. We’re keen to share our experiences in teaching and performing professionally and the love we have for dancing with all our pupils. We believe that through dancing you can strengthen and tone your body, while releasing stress and expressing your emotions. Whether you're looking to get fit or develop a career in the performing arts industry, we offer a wide variety of fun and inspiring classes to suit every age, level and ability. Dancercise classes aim to encourage children and adults to exercise and work out while having fun, to learn how to dance while socialising and making friends and to increase self-confidence and encourage a sense of performance."
Valentina Papiri-Bray (Principal)
Tim Jenkins, the current Principal, took over the running of the dancing school over 25 years ago from her mother, Freda Howson (previously Freda Gurney). Classes have been held around High Wycombe for over 50 years along with various fundraising shows. Kim's daughter, Cara, is now studying hard to qualify with the IDTA so that the school can continue and expand in the future. Cara is loving the opportunities to gain the required teaching experience during the classes each week under the guidance of her mum!
Pupils have been entered for IDTA examinations with great success rates throughout the years. Many have enjoyed participating in Town Hall Shows and school fetes, raising money for charities along the way.
The dancing school has survived this long without paying for any advertisement and is solely reliant on referrals. Enquiries are regularly received from past pupils for their children and grandchildren to join, along with many referrals from present students.
