What can we do today Mum? I'm bored. Two very familiar phrases that you could hear from your children over the next few weeks of the school summer holidays. Here at the best of Henley-on-Thames we have several suggestions of activities for the kids over the summer months.

If they are sporty or interested in having a go why not sign them up to tennis or cricket lessons/course with Ash Taylor Tennis and Performance Cricket. Both run beginners and advanced lessons for children during the holidays in and around Henley.

Also why not pop along to Henley Leisure centre at Gillotts where there are plenty of activities to get involved in or enjoy a swim or book a group of swimming lessons. Summer Active Zone and The Hub both have a mixture of activities for all ages. Also why not learn to play golf at Badgemore Park Golf Club. Situated on the outskirts of Henley Badgemore are offering a great deal on beginners lessons of only £10.

If you love the river Hobbs of Henley have boat trips available as well as boats for hire. What better to spend a summer afternoon than gently cruising along the Thames seeing the sights and the wildlife. Discover your River Thames website also has some great ideas for days out locally, including a child's Passport to Fun.

Also worth a visit with a great cafe is the River & Rowing Museum situated between Henley and Marsh Lock. They have lots of fun activities and clubs for children through the holidays.

The Kenton Theatre in the centre of Henley and is showing Henry's Arabian Nights from Thursday 15th July for three days. Don't forget that Henley also has a cinema. The Picture House has plenty of showings for the younger members of the family. Ideal for a rainy day.

A nice half a day out with a lovely treat is to visit the Herb Farm in Sonning Common that has a superb cafe called Daisy's. Treat the kids to a great big slice of cake with cream on the top. That should shut them up for a while!
