Henley MP Supports Small Business Saturday

Small and Micro businesses are a key part of the economy of South Oxfordshire and important to our communities. Small Business Saturday on 7th December is a grassroots campaign which is supported across the political spectrum. Local MP John Howell is taking the opportunity to help promote local business.

In support of Small Business Saturday John has offered to put the first 200 that contact him ‘on the map’ on his website. A special map page awaits the first businesses that contact him and given him their details.  For more information see www.johnhowellmp.com

John said: ‘I welcome this initiative. Small businesses are very important in this constituency. Some are visible on our High Streets and there are many more operating from rural locations. We are fortunate to have so many interesting and varied businesses serving our community. We rely on small business every day but on this one day it is an opportunity to raise their profile. I hope to promote the first 200 to contact me on my web-site.

Doing business with small business often means doing business locally – bringing life to the high streets and town centres and making them centres of the local community. Beyond that when we support local businesses we are helping not just the local economy but the environment and local employment too.

John added ‘I regularly visit different businesses to find out more about them and meet with groups of business owners to learn about any concerns and see what I can do to support them. I welcome such opportunities and would be delighted to hear from others.’

There are also special events around the constituency.  In Henley and Thame there are special seasonal promotional activities late afternoon and into the evening on Friday 6th December. The District Council is again offering free Christmas parking days in the run up to Christmas on Saturdays 7th, 14th and 21st.
