Great news that Henley Cricket Club first eleven won the Home Counties Premier league last Saturday. After finishing the league strongly last season Henley were always going to do well this season under the determined captaincy of Bjorn Mordt and a few new siginings. They closed out the season with an emphatic win over near rivals High Wycombe. Great celebrations were had at the club on Saturday as the other three teams returned to the club from their away games to hear that Henley Firtsts had won the league. Many sore heads were in evidence on Sunday!!

Now Henley 20/20 team have got a huge game on Sunday when they travel to Reigate to play Reigate CC in the last eight of the 20/20 Cockspur National cup. If henley win on Sunday they play at Derbyshire CC in the last four. This will be televised by Sky. Very exciting.

The rest of Henley CC have also performed very well this year with the seconds and thirds coming second in their leagues. Only one team ws promoted from the secnds league, Thames Valley 2b, but the thirds are promoted from league 5a. The fourths, who I play for, finnished a creditable fourth afteer blooding many 15 year olds. Congatulations to Paul Smith and Jon Gould and their teams for coming second.

Henley cricket club goes from strength to strength as a new pavillion will be built over the winter. This project will enable HCC to generate more revenue and the clubhouse will be made available to the wider Henley community.
