Wax it, shave it, wear it!
This February you can help raise vital funds... with your hair!
We're asking you to get hairy for Sue Ryder. From shaving off your locks to donning a wig for the day, we're asking you to think of inventive, hairy ways to raise funds for us.
How you can get involved
You can take part in an existing event - just watch this page for details of Febru-Hairy events taking place near you.
Or, you can come up with your own hairy event. We've put together a list of possible ideas, but we'd love to hear from you if you have your own plans. You could:
get sponsored to grow your hair
put on a wigs or spray paint your own hair for a spot of colourful fundraising
set a fundraising target and when you reach it - shave everything off!
From sports heroes to film stars, to incorporating fundraising into a wig-based pub crawl, there's no shortage of inspirational ways to raise funds for Sue Ryder with Febru-Hairy.
Wig Wednesdays – like it says on the tin! Turn Wednesday into a wig-wearing day - and wear one for every Wednesday during February!
Wig Pub Crawl – set off along your favourite route with your collection tins and your epic wigs (contact us if you’d like some)
Sponsored Wax-a-Thon – for those brave enough to take the plunge - set a price per wax strip!
Trim a Tutor/Trainer – whether at university or work, if someone is overdue a trim – sponsor him!
Look-a-Likes competition – do you know a closet Jedward wannabe? A wannabe Jack Sparrow? Pippi Longstocking? Hagrid? Cruela DeVil?
Marx Monday – people look like Groucho Marx for the day and don the iconic tache.
The Iron Man – grow (or stick on) the Robert Downey facial hair from the eponymous film.
Henna Hairdo – shave your head and stencil on a Sue Ryder logo in henna.
Hairspray – spray on a temporary Sue Ryder logo using coloured hairspray.

Mane issue – your chance to attempt hair styles from the animal kingdom. From the elephantine bouffant, to Orangutan orange hair - create bizarre and ingenious styles and award a prize for the champion creator.
Chain Letters – each team member dyes or shaves a letter into their head. Together, you create a chain of head-letters that spell something inspirational! Maybe 'F-e-b-r-u-H-a-i-r-y?
Coach wax/shave – run a raffle with the enviable prize of a leg wax.
Team cut – can you persuade your sports or community team to get their hair cut for charity? Or, if you're a competitive bunch, can you out-style or our-dye each other?
Sports events/ activities in wigs - if you haven't played in a wig, you're missing out.
Spots vs Stripes competitions – swap your team strips for team wigs and compete in a sponsored charity match.
