Cycling To The Ashes

This summer I'm cycling from London to Paris in aid of Sue Ryder Care. I thought that this was tough until I read about Oli Broom, son of one of our business members. Barbara and Alastair Broom's son is cycling from Lords Cricket ground to the Gabba ground in Brisbane Australia. The Broom's are orgainsing a golf day in September to support Oli's amazing efforts. Please read on.

As many of you know Cycling to the Ashes is a solo cycle ride of 25,000 kms from London to Brisbane being undertaken by our son, Oli, whose objective is to raise £100,000 for two charities: The Lords Taverners and The British Neurological Research Trust (BRNT)

Oli and his bike Peggy left Lords Cricket Ground on 10th October 2009 and plans to arrive at the Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane by 24th November 2010, the day before the Ashes series starts. As at mid May he is a few days from Calcutta enjoying seasonally hot and wet weather!

His latest newsflash is that he is being featured on the Saturday morning Sky Sports 1 Cricket Am programme which will hopefully raise his profile through the summer. His website is www.cyclingtotheashes.com

All the money raised at the Golf day will be split equally between the two charities. More information is on the  attached sheets.

We are writing to ask you if you would be interested in being involved in the day either by playing golf or assisting with some form of sponsorship. The format for the day will be 60 golfers playing an 18 hole Stableford competition on the afternoon of Friday 3rd September 2010 with a bacon roll on arrival followed by golf, supper, presentation of prizes and an auction.

If you are interested in what will be a great event we would be delighted to speak to you further or simply fill in the enclosed form telling us what you would like to do, enclosing payment or promise of an auction / raffle prize.

Many thanks for any support you can give this cause.

Kind regards
