September 2008

Dear Players, Coaches and Parent (s),

The so-called summer of 2008 went with more than a splash, but at least it was a fantastic year for Berkshire Cricket: the Men's County team finished the season as outright Minor County Champions and runners-up in the Minor Counties Knockout Trophy, with our very own Tom Lambert having an outstanding year as with new and old ball alike. Our congratulations to Tom and the team!

In typical English fashion, and just as I wrote last year, it seems that the best of the summer sunshine has just arrived! It doesn't seem like a year ago that I was writing to tell you about Performance Cricket's plans for the coming winter. If you recall, we organised a series of cricket training sessions in October, November and December last year.

The first indoor cricket session is scheduled for Tuesday 30th September, 6.30pm - 8.30pm. I've planned this with district / county trials in mind. Those attending trials might like to work off some "September rust" and get back into the swing of things for October's trials. Extra pre-trial sessions are planned for Tuesday 7th October, Tuesday 14th October and Tuesday 21st October, 6.30pm - 8.30pm. These 4 sessions are due to take place at the Berkshire Cricket Centre, Piggott School, Wargrave. Even if you have not made the trials system you are more than welcome to attend. Age range for this is 9 - 17 years. The cost, at no increase on last year, is £15 per player per session. Please email, phone or reply via booking form to confirm your attendance.

Post October half term, again, we have organised a specialist hard ball course tailored for better club / district / county players (9 - 17 years of age). This will take place at the new Performance Cricket Academy at Shiplake College. The Academy is being developed in partnership with local sponsors including Thought By Design, Ward Consultancy, and Pro Leasing. Four brand-new indoor nets are featured with new mats (offering a variety of bowling conditions) and bowling machines in place for 2009. The post half-term course will run on Wednesday evenings, starting on 12th November and finishing on 17th December. The six sessions will be split in two age groups. Group 1 will take place from 6.30pm - 7.45pm for under 12s at £90 per person per course. Group 2 will take place from 7.45pm - 9.15pm for 12 - 17s at £150 per person per course. These course prices are at no increase on last year and a 10% discount will be given to all bookings received with payment by Friday 24th October.

Numbers will be limited per session in order to achieve quality and intensity with training / coaching. Sessions will include video analysis using the latest digital computer software. We also have access to bowling machines.

If you have any queries or would like to confirm your place(s) call or email using the details below. Please complete the booking form from the website, www.performance-cricket.com and return with cheque payable to Performance Cricket to the address on the booking form. Places will be confirmed once form and payment have been received.

Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Kind Regards
