Childrens' events are key to the HLF and this year there is a tremendous range appealing to all ages ....and even parents. They start on Wednesday with the chance to meet Cressida Cowell, the creator of How To Train Your Dragon and the cult hero Hiccup Horrendous Haddock lll (for ages 7-12). The following day Louisa Young and her daughter Isabel, who write under the name of Zizou Corder, talk about their tremendously successful series of books (for ages 10 plus). On a packed Saturday, Kristina Stephenson is at the Kenton to talk about Sir Charlie Stinky Socks, her oddly named but hugely popular hero, while author Marion Perkins holds a one-hour workshop for 7-11 year- olds to show them how to turn imagination into words and drawings. Lynne Moore and Naomi Kefford talk about their latest book, When the Dragons Cameand Jo Schofield and Fiona Danks who wrote Go Wild!101 things to do outdoors before you grow up will be sowing the seeds of adventures with nature in an outdoor event for children up to the age of 12 (who must be accompanied by an adult).  But as a parent how do you know what your children should be reading? Daniel Hahn, one of the authors of The Ultimate Book Guide, will be in town on Saturday to help in a unique event that will answer the prayers of many a parent bewildered by the vast range of books for children.
