Champagne, Oysters and Chocolate, it's July in Henley-on-Thames

The Henley Royal Regatta is here once again. A friend of ours commented over the weekend that there is always a buzz in Henley-on-Thames at this time of year. The streets are busier than usual and although the main activity is situated on the banks of the river Thames, lots of visitors seem to like to walk into the town to look at the shops or visit our many shops, restaurants or pubs.

If you are coming into Henley or visiting us for the Regatta a number of our bestofhenley members are doing special things for the Regatta. The Chocolate Theatre Cafe in Thameside will be serving their delicious cakes, pastries and chocolate, made on the premises by co-owner and chocolatier Roy. As well as coffees, teas and Hot Chocolate the cafe is licensed to serve alcohol. During Regatta they will be serving jugs of Pimms and Sangria, champagne and wines and beer. The cafe will also be open longer than usual. On Wednesday and Thursday they will be open from 8am until 7pm. On Friday & Saturday they are open from 7.30am until late and on Sunday they will open from 7.30am until 6pm by that time the staff will need a rest. You will pass the cafe on the way from the station, why not pop in for breakfast?

The Hotel du Vin sited almost opposite the finish line will be offering Al Fresco all day dining in the hotel. They will also be serving divine cocktails and bar bites all day too. If you are walking along the Regatta course look out for the Van du Vin. This will be at Upper Thames Rowing Club and will be selling oysters and champagne.

Whatever you choose enjoy our lovely Town that always looks at its best at this time of year.
