WHAT WILL YOU GIVE?
New fundraising innovation launches in Oxfordshire
Cancer Research UK is set to reinvent the way we donate to charity by calling for the people of Oxfordshire to offer just an hour of their time, doing something they love, to help fund vital research into cancer.
Give Take Donate, launching this month, is based around a website where 'Givers' donate their skills, and allow others to take up that skill. Rather than paying the 'Giver', the 'Taker' of the skill can then choose to make a donation to Cancer Research UK, which goes directly towards the charity's life-saving work.
For example, if you want to learn to play the guitar, you can search the Give Take Donate website for someone near you who is offering guitar tuition. You then make a voluntary donation to Cancer Research UK for the lesson.
The charity is hoping Oxfordshire, selected as one of five counties to take part in the pilot scheme, will really get behind the initiative to make it a huge success.
Kevin Waudby, head of innovation at Cancer Research UK, said: "We're hugely excited about the launch of Give Take Donate in our five pilot counties and I really hope that the people of Oxfordshire will be too. It's a brilliant way of fundraising for the charity's important work. Everyone has something to give, so please visit the website to see how to sign up."
