Warning to all Landlords, from April 6th the Government have introduced new legislation which means that anyone renting a property to 3 or more unrelated people, who are sharing a kitchen and bathroom, has to apply for planning permission. The government's aim is to prevent 'studentification', i.e. concentration of student lets/house shares. This is going to put up costs for landlords which will in turn mean higher rents for those already struggling to find affordable accommodation through house shares. In my mind, another layer of unnecessary red tape!
