Phyllis Tuckwell’s virtual quizzes are returning for the autumn, so round up your team, log on, and get your thinking caps on.
The quizzes will take place monthly, on Wednesdays 21st October, 18 th November and 16 th December, and each will be themed. October’s theme will be ‘Quiz of Quizzes’, with questions following the format of different TV quiz shows, including Blockbusters,
Telly Addicts, Play Your Cards Right and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. November’s theme will be ‘Through the Decades’ and December’s will, of course, be Christmas.
Hosted by BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) presenter Richard Wyeth, each quiz will consist of four rounds of questions and a picture round. A suggested donation of £3 per person will help support Phyllis Tuckwell, which provides supportive and end of life care for local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer. You can donate via JustGiving and join the quiz through the charity’s Facebook page, taking part from the comfort of your own sofa, and testing your general knowledge whilst drinking your favourite tipple straight from the fridge.

“We’re really pleased to be bringing back our virtual quizzes,” said Fiona Chapman, Events Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “We held six in the summer, which raised a total of £11,000 between them! That’s enough to pay for nearly three months’ care from one of our In-Patient Unit nurses, who each care for up to five patients and offer emotional support to their families too. We’re asking for a suggested donation of £3 to join a quiz, or you can text HUGS to 70500 to make a donation of £5. With many of our fundraising events cancelled this year due to Coronavirus, this money is really important in helping us to continue providing our vital care.”

You can join Phyllis Tuckwell’s quiz through its Facebook page,
www.facebook.com/PhyllisTuckwellHospice, at 8pm on Wednesday 21st October. If you would like a reminder before the quiz starts, you can go to their Facebook page
before the day, click on ‘Events’ and let them know that you will be joining them for the quiz, and they will send you a reminder on the day.
If you can’t join the quiz but would like to host your own virtual quiz with family, friends, work colleagues or a social group you belong to, you can download a virtual quiz pack from Phyllis Tuckwell’s website . The pack contains everything you need to organise your quiz, including questions for each round – all you need to do is send out your invites!
