Valentine’s Day at RHS Wisley
1st February 2010

Are you looking to treat your loved one to something a bit different this Valentine’s Day?  How about just spending time together and enjoying the great outdoors particularly as St Valentine's Day (14 February) falls on a Sunday this year.

Couples looking for a romantic day out are guaranteed a special experience at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden in Wisley near Guildford.  With over 200 acres to explore that are bursting with colour, fragrance and sound, a day out at Wisley could offer the perfect get-away-from-it-all retreat.  And having visited these wonderful gardens myself many times I can highly recommend them.

For close encounters and warming temperatures, head straight to ‘Butterflies in the Glasshouse’ where thousands of beautiful butterflies have been released among the luscious palms and exotic flowers.

Alternatively take the ‘Winter Garden Trail’ walk among the snowdrops and crocus and cyclamen.  Birds are also all around at this time of year but especially in the fruit orchard where redwings, song thrush and chaffinches flit among early tree blossom.

Having worked up an appetite, enjoy lunch in one of the Wisley cafes or dinner in their Conservatory Dining Room.
