Today, 1 July, is the first day of the Guildford Fringe Theatre Festival. Following the success of last year’s event, Creative Director Nick Wyschna has broadened the horizons, putting together a programme even more varied than last year, with performances taking place in inspiring locations all over Guildford.

The first week of the festival looks like this:

Tuesday 1 July – the launch party with Uke Jam at the Boileroom! 7pm, FREE. All welcome (‘cause those fringey types are just so generous!)

Wednesday 2 July – Interactive bingo at the Star Inn on Quarry Street. 8pm and it’ll cost you a fiver.

Wednesday 2 July – Rock and Roll at Bar Des Arts. 8pm, FREE

Thursday 3 July – The Speech, a short play at the Star Inn on Quarry Street. 7pm, £8

Thursday 3 July – A Rod Stewart Tribute at Bar Des Arts. 8pm, £10

Friday 4 July – The Speech, a short play at the Star Inn on Quarry Street. 7pm, £8

Friday 4 July – Following “The Speech” at 8.30pm, Owen Elton brings you his comedy songs! £8

Saturday 5 July – Much Ado About Nothing at Clandon Wood Natural Burial Reserve. 2pm, £15

On Saturday evening there’s another performance of “The Speech” and another chance to see Owen Elton.

This is a great opportunity to support local, independent theatre and to see some the Guildford you know and love in a completely different way. See you there!
