Mothers Day in Guildford
20th March 2014

Mothers Day is coming round again, falling this year on 30 March. Traditionally, it was the day when you returned to your “mother church” and it later became the annual day off (!) that the girls in service were granted to go and visit their mothers. These days, it’s about saying a big thank you to our mums and telling them how much we love them.

How are you going to celebrate Mothers Day?

If you’re taking Mum out for lunch or even dinner, Guildford has lots of great restaurants to choose from:

For English pub food that’s a cut above, the award-winning Crown Inn at Chiddingfold is offering a stunning menu for Mothering Sunday. The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh is excellent too, and has got some little presents ready and waiting for all the mums being taken out to lunch!

The Beijing Restaurants in Worplesdon and Horsell have put together a special Mothers Day menu, while over at Newlands Corner, the team at Carlo’s advise you to book early for 30 March!

All the restaurants on the Best of Guildford have been recommended by local people – head over to our Restaurants Page for a full list.

If your children are bit a young to take you out for a meal, the Guildford area has lots of other Mothers Day events. Claremont Landscape Garden is offering free entry for mums accompanied by their children or you can take little ones to Clandon Park where there’ll be lots of paper and glue for making Mothers Day cards! There is also card making in White Lion Walk on Saturday 29 March.

And what will I be doing on Mothering Sunday? I think I might get my family to book me on one of the special cruises on the Wey and Arun Canal, after which we all enjoy a cream tea.

Lovely.
