Guildford’s Buy Local Day – this Saturday!
5th November 2014

I’m sure you’ve all got our Buy Local Day diaried in for this Saturday, 8 November 2014. If you haven’t...do it now! Reminders on your smartphone, scribbly highlighter on your kitchen calendar – whatever end of the technology scale you’re at, make sure you save the date!

Right, done that? Marvellous. Now, why have is it so important that you come along? Two reasons. First, the Serious One. Small businesses are diminishing in number. Large chains are taking over. This means our high streets are losing their variety and consumers have less choice about what to buy. The hard work on the part of small businesses to give great quality, great value and great customer service could be lost forever. Buy Local Day is all about celebrating Guildford’s independent businesses, putting them in the limelight and encouraging Surrey to change its shopping habits for the better.

The second reason for coming along is that this is going to be a great day out! The Best of Guildford team (plus many of our member businesses) will be outside Tunsgate in Guildford town centre all day. There’ll be free entertainment, facepainting, balloons, special offers and even FREE mulled wine to keep out the cold.

The timetable looks something like this:

Throughout the day: stalls and shopping, special offers, facepainting and performances from the Guildford Fringe Theatre Company

Morning: music from Bloomfield Avenue

11.30: Rollicking Richard Sullivan, all the way from London’s Covent Garden, brings us magic, juggling and even some tricks on his eight-foot unicycle!

14.00: Dancing from BKD Performers

14:30: More from Richard Sullivan

Come along and see us – we’d love to see you!
