Guildford Spectrum parking improves

Customers of thebestofguildford member Guildford Spectrum can now benefit from improved parking arrangements at the leisure complex.

Guildford Borough Council has introduced a short stay parking zone from Monday to Friday with 361 four-hour spaces in front of the building.  The parking remains free of charge.  Park and Ride users who stay longer than four hours can continue to use the 600 spaces in the long stay areas of the car park.

Cllr Jenny Wicks, Lead Councillor for the Environment and Transport, says: "The success of the Park and Ride scheme means that more cars now park all day at the complex.  These long stay users were often occupying the parking bays closest to the centre, making it difficult for Guildford Spectrum customers and other short stay users to find a space.  The new scheme clearly designates long and short stay areas. This creates a turnover of spaces in the most convenient part of the car park."

The parking changes, which apply from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, will be monitored by the Council's Civil Enforcement Officers.  Park and Ride operates Monday to Friday only.  For more information and to view a map showing the new zoned parking areas visit: www.guildfordspectrum.co.uk
