Guildford car parking - prices and changes for 2013

... Comments

In April 2013, Guildford Borough Council will be making some changes to parking in the city centre. Some car parks increased their prices to £1.20 per hour last April and this year these car parks will be following suit:

  • Bedford Road multi-storey
  • Millbrook
  • G Live
  • Mary Road
  • Bright Hill
  • Leapale Road
  • Upper High Street.

Fees will also increase from £1.10 to £1.20 per hour on Saturdays 8am to 6pm at:

  • College Road
  • Bellerby Theatre
  • Lawn Road
  • Millmead House front car park
  • Robin Hood
  • St Joseph's Church.

Prices for long-stay car parks remain the same.

Other changes to come include free park and ride Saturdays (dates to be confirmed after consultation with local businesses) and a planned rollout of  pay-by-phone car parking.

The increase in car parking charges will, in part, contribute to some of the proposed improvements for Guildford city centre including

  • rebuilding the access roads to Guildford Park car park and York Road multi-storey
  • repairs at North Street car park
  • decorating Castle Street car park
  • replacing old lifts at Bedford Road multi-storey and Onslow House
  • rebuilding a retaining wall at Bright Hill
  • drainage work and new cladding at Bedford Road multi-storey and Onslow House.
