G Live Guildford – worth a visit

Last week, I was part of a small local business group treated to a tour of the new state-of-the-art G Live venue in Guildford.

If I’m honest, period buildings are much more my thing.  However, G Live in all its contemporary glasshouse glory really won me over.

The juxtaposition of new (G Live) and old (its neighbouring historic Guildford buildings) works in much the same way as the London Eye and Big Ben.  It shouldn’t; but it does!

G Live is light and bright where it matters – in the reception and entertaining areas – complemented by the more mysterious dark main hall with a 1,700 capacity.  Admittedly, £26 million has been spent so it is fair to expect an impressive set-up.

Aside from a few rather dramatic teething problems including a total power failure on the opening Saturday night, G Live seems to have so far delivered.  It looks good and has an attractive list of household names lined up over the coming months to entertain the people of Guildford and beyond.

Only time will tell of course, but I for one wish G Live all the best and have every intention of visiting in both a personal and professional capacity.
