15 minutes exercise can increase’s lifespan by 3 years!!

A recent news report on the BBC claimed that some of the latest studies have shown that just 15 minutes of exercise a day can add 3 years onto your life. This concurs with a government study that suggested that a sedentary lifestyle including hours a day in front of the television, can result in a reduced life expectancy of 5 years.

The 15 minutes suggested by is less than the most recent recommendations by the British Journal of sports Medicine of 150 minutes per week, but at ActivZone we encourage all forms of exercise, no matter what the timescale.

It did get us thinking, if you only have 15 minutes to train what would be the best workout you could do for a whole body, fitness and toning workout. Here’s what we came up with.

1.       Warm up – 3 minutes gentle row

2.       Rowing Machine  6.30mins – Perform 5 x 200m Sprints at maximum effort with a 30 secs rest in between

3.        Circuit 3 mins – Standing Squats, Press ups, Horizontal pull ups, Ab Crunches,  45 seconds per exercise

4.       Sprints – 2.30mins – 10 x 20 metre sprints with a walk back recovery

5.       Done!
