Went for a Spa Day with my wife including lunch and full use of Gym and Spa
Arrived at 0930 checked in Gym and Spa - brilliant
Lunch at 1200 - brilliant really
Spa 1400 - Full Body - my therapist was wonderful - oh so relaxed and she found those knots!!
Back in the Gym and Spa then left at 1600.
My wife's Spa experience was just as relaxing.
Fabulous value for money with the quality.

Hotel is great but a bit outdated. Rooms are a bit noisy, you can really hear the people on the rooms beside you. There is not really privacy when it comes to the hottubs or your private space outside. People can walk by and shutters are see through. For Breakfast there is plenty of choice and service is good.

Lovely hotel, ideally situated to get into St. Peter Port easily and not too far from the airport.
My room, as advertised, had a lovely view of the garden and lake; sitting outside at the terrace bar enjoying a drink on a summer's evening you will also get to appreciate this view and that was a lovely way to enjoy a pre-dinner drink.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful both at reception and also particularly, Richard in the Victor Hugo restaurant, who was very friendly and accommodating. I wasn't sure I'd like a dish (the Jacob's Ladder) as it was supposed to be served, he suggested some alterations and then the chef was more than happy to adapt it for me. The food was excellent and I will definitely eat in the VH restaurant again on my next stay.

Loved everything about this hotel except. If you have a evening meal you have to have it in the bar sitting in great big armchairs- which is not easy when, like my wife, you are 5 foot nothing, why no proper restaurant??
Apart from that would have given it 5 stars as everything else is excellent.

A short stay in July and I cannot fault anything.
I was a single traveller and initially was put in a room with a connecting door. Not ideal but the occupants next door and I said hello in the corridor and all was ok. That was until change over and my new 'neighbours' decided to try the door!
I spoke with the Duty Manager (a wonderful man) and was moved immediately. The only room available was a deluxe and I was not charged extra for the reminder of my stay.
Both rooms I had were absolutely fine. Both were more than adequate; hairdryer, iron/board, fridge, tea/coffee, hot chocolate, water still & sparkling, bathroom was huge with wonderful smelling toiletries. Both had view's of the grounds.
The only difference in the rooms were that the deluxe had air conditioning, a coffee machine, dressing gowns and slippers.
House keeping staff were friendly, a morning 'hello' and extremely helpful.
I only had breakfast at the hotel and again the teams were fantastic. As a single traveller they try and sit you near the window so you don't feel your in a goldfish bowl! Very thoughtful. One morning I wanted to take breakfast to go, a wonderful waiter fetched a container so I could 'grab & go'!
Didn't use the pool but did use the gym. It's a little out dated and could do with an overhaul but I could still manage a workout.
I use to live on Guernsey so know of the hotel over many years. Having now stayed there as a guest, would I recommend, definitely

Hotel is lovely. Very nice staff good food in the terrace bar. Our room is perfect with a huge bed... very comfy even i couldn't steal the entire bed and I'm a good star fish. Swimming pool is nice with sauna and steam room, not too busy when I've been you have full use of all facilities and the spa is reasonable, i bought my hubby a massage for £45 which kept him busy for 45mins and he loved it. The only down side to the hotel is how cold it is.. everywhere! The room has been cold most of the time, heating has been on but the radiator is tiny. Sat in the terrace bar there is a cold breeze coming from somewhere, no doors open its just so cold. BTW it is freezing outside but I would expect the hotel to be able to warm me up a little. Would definitely come again in the summer when more attractions are open on the island. Booked through last minute.com.
Oh BTW try the waffles at breakfast they are really good!

Overall, positive experience. The staff were very attentive - especially the Operations Manager I met on the evening of 12th Dec. The reason for the 3-stars is due to the overall condition of the hotel, which would most certainly benefit from a full refurbishment.
