We were a group of 11 that came for the weekend arriving on the Friday evening the Staff were extremely efficient on checking us all in, Unfortunately I wasn't very happy with my Sea view room as on entering it seemed a little cold this was to very high Easterly winds that appeared to be almost blowing through the windows...... So I went down to the reception and asked if I could be moved which Gareth the Duty manager kindly organised a large room on the side of the hotel which was beautiful and spacious! We dined that evening in the Brassiere which was disappointing as we had originally thought we were in the Curry room but as we were a large group and they can only seat 15 in there they put us in the Brassiere which was very chilly and being a large restaurant it didn't heat up...... All the staff which are mostly foreign were lovely helpful and friendly - all in all a lovely stay overall!

We stayed for 3 nights to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The hotel itself is lovely, in a great position for St Peter Port and a fantastic building with great features.

What made the stay extra special was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Always attentive but not too much. Their attitude was the best we have come across in all the hotels we have stayed at.

The food was exceptional in the restaurant and the Curry Room.

We highly recommend OGH which lives up to its 5 star rating.

We will return.

My day trip had been a disaster waiting for my 0830 flight from Southampton to finally depart at 1130. Having rushed around seeing my customers I got back to the airport and having not eaten since 0730 I was ordering food when all flights back home were cancelled!!

Faint with hunger, cold, tired I started the search for a hotel. OGH were amazing, everything was calmly done, my car was parked , my bags were carried, a drink arranged and a table for a meal booked.

Feeling refreshed I came down to enjoy a curry which is one of their specialities.

The hotel is old as the name suggests, grand yet homely with friendly staff with an excellent attitude towards customer service. When I got back to my room I found a bag on my bed with various gifts in it including cufflinks and a card wishing my son a happy 21st birthday... looking back I must have mentioned that I had to get home the next day to for his birthday and here was a gift - I WAS AMAZED!!

In the morning I called the reception to arrange for my car to be brought around and I was asked if I would like a tea or coffee and a freshly brewed coffee was brought to me free of charge as I was settling the bill.

In summary if you feel you need some additional level of service stay here it really took my stress away!!

Most enjoyable couple of nights stay in this lovely hotel. Staff could not be more helpful and we found everything to be to the standard expected. Meals we had in the hotel were reasonably priced and could not be faulted. We would recommend this hotel to anybody.

Lovely spa day which included lunch, a full body massage and access to all facilities. Great food, attentive staff and superb facilities (the gym is great and it includes a spinning studio). They surprised us with a surprise cake as it was my husband's birthday.

I'm here with my two children and auntie.
The rooms are spacious and very comfortable there is plenty of room for the extra bed in my room. The staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble. The pool and outside hot tub are great. Changing facilities are a joy.
The Victor Hugo restaurant is exceptionally good. My two children were allowed to share a main course rather than be confined to the children's menu.
My risotto was the best I have had outside Italy.
The ribs my children had were perfect.
My Aunty thought her steak too rare for her taste (it looked perfect to me) but it was replaced without hesitation and very quickly with a freshly cooked steak.
Pudding of passion fruit tart was excellent and the homemade brandysnap basket my son's sorbet came in was a lovely surprise - very buttery.
Prices were par for the course for such a high class establishment. £109 for the four of us 2 courses each,4 soft drinks 4 large glasses of wine.
The restaurant staff were exceptional.

My daughter and I have just returned from a 3 nights stay at this beautiful Hotel - our 4th visit to the lovely Island of Guernsey. Arriving at 11am on a Friday morning we were very happy to find that our room was all ready for us. The ladies on reception were very pleasant and explained everything to us including breakfast arrangements and all the facilities. We were fairly satisfied with our room overlooking the entrance of the Hotel and though we asked if there was a fan available (there is no air conditioning in the rooms) we were only slightly concerned about feeling too uncomfortable in the night. However, we had a very unsettling night and not due to the heat surprisingly. Our room was an adjoining room to the one next door and the guests in this room decided to have a awful blazing row from about 11pm to about 1 in the morning. Then at dawn they decided to start chatting and giggling which once again kept us awake. The next morning I went straight down to reception to explain what had happened in the night and how upset we were. The reception staff were brilliant. They showed real concern and immediately allocated us to another room. They also said that if we had dialled reception at the time a duty manager would have come up immediately to sort out the problem. In hindsight I wish we had. I can't find enough words to thank reception for their swift and sympathetic response and excellent customer service - the remainder of our stay was thankfully both peaceful and relaxing. This Hotel is in a beautiful setting with well manicured gardens and a lake with a fountain at the back of the Hotel. The appearance at the entrance of the Hotel is very grand and I could see it is extremely well looked after. Breakfast is served buffet style with cereals, fresh fruit, and cooked breakfast - the breakfast staff are impeccably mannered. There is even a gluten free section. There is a formal dining area in the evening which we didn't try so I can't comment on this. However, there is a less formal restaurant which serves food virtually all day and we enjoyed 2 meals here which was very nice. The pool and spa facilities are new and though we didn't try them I thought the renovation looked very attractive. The thing I liked most about this Hotel was how peaceful it was and our upset on the first night was handled very well by the reception staff for which I can't praise highly enough. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to anyone wanting a restful break. There is a bus stop outside which goes to St Peter Port in 10 minutes and there is Waitrose supermarket opposite. We both agreed we will definitely be back... Thank you for a lovely stay.

Friendly and welcoming staff, beautifully decorated rooms and hotel, very nice swimming pool. Location is only ok, but there are buses available and taxis. I would definitely recommend this hotel for luxury, one of my favourite stays was here.

Took my sister away for her special birthday. Was a very relaxing hotel with good amenities. Room was clean and comfortable but ask for a garden view room when you book - our room overlooked the front of the hotel so not so enticing to sit on the balcony! Reception desk staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a delight - good choice of food, well laid out and replenished frequently. Really started the day well. Housekeeping left a little to be desired - kept forgetting to replenish essentials such as toilet rolls so had to ask at reception. Food for evening meal was up and down - mainly good but service sometimes let it down. Took a while to come so food was sometimes lukewarm.
Location good if you want a quieter holiday - bus into St Peter Port a couple of minutes away. Wait rose across road if you need any treats or essentials.
Would recommend this hotel for a short break especially if it is your first trip to Guernsey which has a range of good places to visit and eat.
