Great hotel in a lovely location . We were there with a guide dog in training and they couldn't have been more helpful .
Lots of different places to eat, drink or just relax. A hotel full of little corners of ambience.
The pool is lovely too ; a great temperature.
We had breakfast out on the terrace one morning which is delightful;unfortunately we weren't so lucky with the weather so only managed one breakfast Al fresco.
We tried all the restaurants attached to the hotel and can heartily recommend all of them .All quite different but equally delicious.
We are looking forward to returning.

Nice place, beautifully finished, if you like the club/country style. Helpful staff, beautiful lobby and bar area, nice rooms, comfy bed, and lovely restaurant. It's not too stuffy, to boot. My room had a view of the sea (just) and was light and airy, so presumably there are other such rooms at the front of the hotel. Recommended.

Firstly the wow factor. As part of our Silver Wedding celebrations we treated ourselves to a little bit of luxury. The staff were very courteous and attentive, anticipating every whim. The room was a little small but OK for our requirements. Nicely appointed & yes our door key didn't work if you kept it next to your phone, just keep it somewhere else. Turn down service was lovely with home made biscuits on you return after dinner. Staff were friendly and wanting to please.

The room had air-conditioning but on the 1st night of our stay the hotel had wedding guests staying and so the air-conditioning was overloaded. We were incredibly hot and my husband in particular got virtually no sleep. The management did sort this problem out for subsequent nights.

The 'help yourself' breakfast had some excellent choices: cereals, gently poached fruits in syrups, greek yoghurt, fresh soft fruits, honey, and they didn't mind if you went back for seconds. However the cooked breakfast lacked quality. If you'd paid separately for it it was £25, but for 4 items!! Bacon & black pudding was good, the egg was OK (but apart from burning it how can that be done badly) but the sausage was awful. Cooked fine but of sub-standard quality, you know they type with cheap fillers and unmentionable origins. Sorry but I am used to our local butcher's 100% pork sausages at home and from a 5 star establishment I expected the same quality.

Dinner was as expected for 5 star until the presentation of the main menu. Very little choice for someone who hates fish. 4 choices (2 being very similar) if you don't count the 2 veggie options. No poultry, no game. Come on!! My husband and I both chose the 'hand chopped 8oz sirloin' We were asked how we like it cook, rare or medium rare. When the main arrived both thought we had been given the wrong plates. It was presented like a burger !! with the cheese topping!! The waitress pointed out that it was hand chopped but excuse me for mis-understanding, the enjoyment in a sirloin steak is in the texture of a piece of meat, not it being cut into 3mm size pieces. When it said hand chopped I assumed it meant bite sized pieces. And why did they give us steak knives? This bad experience puts a dampener on the special anniversary.
The dessert was very sublime but was served with a common or garden digestive biscuit, would have been much better without or perhaps with a homemade shortbread biscuit.

The wine was absolutely divine, I know my wines and knew it would be exceptional but I didn't appreciate the waitress pointing out the high price in a tone that suggested I may like to choose again because it may not be able to afford it. That aside, I am still enjoying the wine and will do for some time to come.

Would I visit again. Yes, but if they serve me with a burger when I order steak again I will send it back.

This is the only 5-star hotel in Guernsey. The ethos is one of customer care with attention to detail apparent from the moment you walk in. The room we had was quite small and on the top floor but was perfectly adequate for a night's stay; the views were superb over St. Peter Port and towards the other Channel Islands. We chose not to eat in the restaurant but had a light snack in one of the bars; the food there was excellent and there was plenty of it. Whilst there, we got talking to one of the waiters who was a very polite and well presented young man. The bar also had a professional pianist/vocalist playing who kept guests entertained all evening. What you're paying for at the OGH is quality of service - it's not Guernsey's biggest or cheapest hotel, there's only an outside pool and the parking is a bit cramped but this is all made up for by the unhurried, friendly nature of the staff and their 'nothing's-too-much-trouble' attitude. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Returned again this year after such an enjoyable visit last year. The OGH is a fabulous hotel with the highest of standards throughout and you could not wish for more luxury.
It was rather touching to be recognized by some of the staff including the colourful in-house pianist!

It is great credit to Mrs B Tollman for what she has achieved with the ongoing support of her managers and staff.

We booked the OGH as a base to do 6 days coastal walking.
We upgraded to a Queens size room thinking it would give us plenty is space to store our walking equipment etc. The room was beautiful with en-suite bathroom with shower and bath, which again was very plush.
Our only criticism is that the storage space was just a little limited, apart from that the staff, the Maitre D was excellent and very attentive. The food was excellent we used the Brasserie and the Indian restaurant called The Governors room. We used the spa and the swimming pool too all very clean and pool was nice and warm.
We will definitely go back to this Hotel again.
Thank you to all of the staff for our wonderful stay.

I visited this hotel as part of a large group on rugby tour. Our party was about 60 and booking in was run like a military operation which was commendable. My room was luxourious and contained all the little extras such as a Nespresso coffee machine and bath gowns which is always a pleasant touch. The breakfast included everything one would need in a full English with good quality sausages! Staff were polite and professional. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel and transport to the centre costs just £1. Make sure you get on the correct side of the road ( unless you enjoy bus travel and want a tour of the island!) We also utilised the golf range which is a 4 minute walk from the hotel. It provided us with an hours entertainment and was cheap and fun ( and was my first introduction to golf) I would recommend this hotel and will hopefully visit again ( with my wife next time!)

Stayed in St Pierre Park for a long weekend, covering both business and leisure. I had not stayed here for about 3 years and had heard that following change to Handpicked hotels, it had undergone a makeover. So tried it again. Unfortunately any makeover is not visible, except possibly the spa. The rooms are in need of a major upgrade in facilities. Light switches broken, hairdriers broken, patio door locks broken. There is a complete lack of electrical sockets for charging phones, ipads laptops etc, that one would expect in a hotel nowadays. All sockets in use (lamps, tv etc).

Room service was good and food hot, however breakfast was chaotic with staff unable to cope with simple requests (eg a latte).

The hotel still has that conference centre venue feel and generally impersonal.

Stayed here for one night on business with colleagues. This is a very good hotel but not quite worthy of five stars,. but this might have been down to my individual room.

Staff service is extremely good and they will all go out of their way to help you. Bar and food prices very reasonable and location and grounds are beautiful. My only complaint is that the room I was allocated was rather poor as it was at the side of the building overlooking a car park and some bins which were emptied at 4 in the morning. If you pay more no doubt you will end up with a beautiful sea view.

Will definitely stay again
