We attended a family wedding reception held at The Venue attached to The Fermain Valley Hotel. The room was excellent with a balcony with sofas to relax on, the food was perfect and service excellent. The gardens and surrounding were beautiful.
We stayed overnight and found the room quite small but had a huge comfortable bed. We were overlooking the main road and Fermain Tavern so tended to be quite noisy. It was clean and spotless. There was a television, fruit, water, sherry and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom had underfloor heating with Elemis toiletries.
The decoration was dated definately needs refurbishing and there were some electrics hanging from the ceiling.
There was a good choice for breakfast with pastries, ham, cheese, cereals and choice of juice. Toast was brought to your table with tea and coffee followed then by a cooked breakfast of your choice from the hot breakfast menu. The service was good however the orders did get mixed up.
Overall a good experience but did not think it was completely worth the cost of £145 for one night.

Fermain Valley Hotel? Excellent service. Excellent restaurants. There are however buts. The photos on most sites show the main hotel with balconies looking down the valley to the sea. However, the hotel is in two parts and the "garden rooms" part is not attached to the bit in the photos, but is quite a steep walk up the hill from the main hotel. The "Garden Rooms" bit is also known as "The Venue", where parties, wedding and the like use the function rooms. We didn't find these to be particularly noisy in our second room, but we were initially put in a room, not overlooking any gardens or sea, but a car park, with a main road beyond. The car park was the place of choice for wedding guests to smoke cigarettes, laugh and chat. Until the event finished and traffic on the main road lessened, there was no chance of sleep. I took this up with the receptionist and I'm pleased to report that she managed to find us another room, overlooking the gardens which was not only much quieter, but also much larger.
While on the subject of rest, prospective visitors should be made aware that the hotel is almost in line with the runway at Guernsey Airport. From about 7.30am to 9.00pm there are aircraft taking off or landing pretty much over the hotel. We were woken every day by the 1st flight arriving, so maybe earplugs would be an item worth packing.
So that's the negatives out of the way! The pluses are everything else! Friendly and efficient staff, most of whom seemed to be of Latvian origin. Good food. Clean modern rooms.
The hotel is on a hill. A steep hill! If you aren't fit, or suffer from mobility problems, you will have difficulty getting around. The beach, down the road from the hotel, is hard work, particularly the return journey. One of the staff said to me, possibly as a joke, that he gets a taxi there if he wants to go. There is however a cafe at the beach to replenish calories before the return hike back.
Not been to Guernsey before? The roads aren't like any I have experienced anywhere else in the world! They are narrow, really narrow! The island's 35mph speed limit is in many place too high! You regularly are confronted by lorries or buses heading straight at you, necessitating a diversion onto the footpath, or even reversing back a considerable distance to a wider spot or someone's driveway. Hire car are emblazoned with a large H on the front and rear, so at least the locals are aware that you are not used to the local conditions. Last but not least, if you venture off the "main roads", the lanes are single track with stone walls bordering the tarmac.
Would I stay there again? Hell yes!

The perfect start to our holiday in Guernsey, restful and relaxing with excellent service. Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful. Food excellent and not over priced considering the quality and presentation - compliments to the Chef and team! Home from home hotel 'lounges' were perfect to sit in and relax at any time of day. The terrace was a great place to eat or just sit with a coffee and while away the time. Views from the main hotel bedrooms and those facing the gardens in 'The Venue' are stunning. Our room in The Venue was quite small, overlooked the side of the hotel and another building. It is quite expensive but guess you pay for the location and service. We didn't mind the walk from The Venue to the main hotel as the gardens are beautiful and therapeutic! If you don't want to walk then book a room in the main hotel but you will have to pay more.

We stayed at the Fermain Valley for 10 nights. We only booked B&B because we like to try different restaurants in the area but the food and service was so good we ate there every night except one. The staff are very welcoming and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. My wife must have gluten-free food and they were fully aware of her needs and the gf choice was better than most restaurants we visit. We had a silver room (10) and had a good view of the valley and the sea beyond. It was spacious and fresh fruit was provided every day. The lounges were not used by most guests so we really relaxed there. I know some people don't like wedding parties (me for one) but we had no issues with wedding guests here at all. If we go back to Guernsey we will have no hesitation in staying here again.

This is a great hotel in a great location although for anyone with mobility issues, it may be worth checking your needs with the hotel. It is halfway down a steepish hill which goes down to a lovely cove and car parking next to the hotel is fairly limited - especially at weekends - and additional spaces are at the top of the hill next to the Garden Rooms, albeit it through lovely gardens. There are steps down to the restaurant too. The Platinum Room we had was very spacious with a view down the valley to the sea and the rooms in the old part of the building still retain some of their character from years past. Every need is catered for and the food was good - although there is room for improvement - we had one meal which didn't live up to expectations (Duck was a bit "chewy"!). Good breakfast buffet. There is a courtesy bus which can ferry guests to and from the hotel to various locations of their choice. There is also a lift to both floors with steps where the new and the old buildings come together. There is a spacious split level verandah with ample tables and chairs and the views are beautiful. The staff are friendly and courteous and everything was what one would expect from a 4star hotel. Hope to go back some time.

My wife and I met on Guernsey 32 years ago and got married not long after with 31 years of bliss. To celebrate we decided to return to Guernsey and made a superb decision to go to the Fermain Valley hotel. We had an excellent room with balcony and were treate like royalty by the staff. The meals were excellent and i would thoroughly rcommend this hotel for whatever reason to go to Guernsey.

We've just returned from another stay at the Fermain Valley Hotel following our last visit in April. This time my 90 yr old Mum came with us. It's always a bit nerve wracking to recommend a hotel to someone but the Fermain Valley Hotel didn't let us down. She had a wonderful time and so did we, thanks to Robert (Manager) and his professional staff. The hotel is immaculate which included our room which was its usual high standard. Robes, slippers, quality bathroom essentials, excellent cleaning and the nightly "turn down" service adds to the extra feeling of care.
We ate in the restaurant a couple of nights where the quality of food was to a very high standard. Breakfasts were huge and covered every choice possible.
The Rock Garden is a bar which caters for younger guests and is very on trend - the staff here were really friendly and offered great hospitality when we wandered in to have a look around.
The grounds are immaculately tended and are lovely to wander around. The planting is well thought out and the lower garden leads down to a path to the beautiful Fermain Bay.
Overall we had a wonderful stay and hope to return again in the future.

From the moment we were picked up from the airport to the moment they dropped us off again the whole experence was faultless. The initial welcome together with all the friendly staff made this short break one not to forget. The room was perfect and the food excelent. We enjoyed the very warm pool but we did miss not having a jacuzzi especially when there was ample room next to the pool. After a days walking it would have been very pleasent to sit and relax in a jacuzzi. The private cinema was a great experence as we picked our own film and we had the cinema to ourselves. Our room had a great view and we did not hear any noise at all, the complementary sherry was a nice touch. We then moved onto their sister hotel on Alderney and found the standard of this matched the Fermain Valley hotel. Overall a very good few days away.

We have just had the most wonderful stay here! I warned them beforehand that we have a number of allergies in our family and they were incredibly helpful, offering alternatives to various dishes or side orders and were very 'allergy aware' when discussing the dishes. Add to that they managed to bend the menu to suit a picky toddler and heated up my baby's food to perfection! They made the madness of a family of four on holiday with small children seem very easy and were always on hand with suggestions as to where to go or information on shops/attractions/etc... Special thanks go to Robert the Manager who really went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us, Eva in the restaurant for making mealtimes so enjoyable and Gavin for kickstarting it all on email and helping me to feel relaxed about our impending stay.

We would highly recommend the Fermain Valley Hotel. It is situated in an attractive valley from which a footpath leads down to the nearby bay and beach. It is also possible to walk in to St Peter Port in around 15-20 minutes but for those without a car who do not want the exercise there is a bus stop outside the hotel. Our room in the Annex was very comfortable with an excellent view down the valley and out to sea. The Annex is a short walk (up/down a hill) through attractive gardens with labelled plants to the main building where the main restaurant provides a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also the separate Rock Garden restaurant that offers the option of meals cooked at your table on your own hotplate. The hotel has a small heated indoor swimming pool and sauna as well as extensive lounges and a terrace with tables offering a superb view. The service throughout the hotel was excellent.
