This was our fourth stay in two years at the hotel and we have never been disappointed in the slightest. This year, we were back in a Platinum room with glorious sea views. It has become a home from home for us. Gavin and his colleagues never disappoint in their quality of service. Level of detail is fabulous.

The Ocean restaurant is first class but the Rock Garden is even better (see separate review) and very much livelier! You need to book a table in the Rock Garden some weeks before you arrive or the time slots will be very limited.

One afternoon, we were in St Peter Port and rather tired after walking most of the day so we simply rang the hotel for the courtesy bus and it arrived within 5 minutes.

Thoroughly recommended.

Tip: Let the hotel put a package together for you including either flights or a ferry as they get great rates from the airlines/hire car and from Condor.

All staff very friendly and helpful.
Ate in both restaurants; very different atmosphere in both but excellent food and great breakfasts.
Our room was huge, could easily have had 20 people come to visit us!
The views are great (well, except for the day we had fog but the hotel couldn't organize the weather for us!)
We used the hotel taxi back to the airport; an added bonus.

Just had 3 nights at the Fermain Valley Hotel in Guernsey. A superb hotel with excellent food, excellent service, lovely rooms, wonderful views. Almost too good for words!
It's a great place for a short break.

This is a great looking hotel and the views from the bars on the terrace are surreal and stunning. We ate in both restaurants and the quality of food was superb as were breakfasts although the choice was a bit limited. That said, making me porridge was not a problem for them. Sunday was a bit of a disappointment as we had an hour to wait for taxi but were told that they only do full Sunday roasts and unable to do a sandwich which I would have expected from a hotel this size.

One of the greatest services was the transfer service which is free and we used to get us to and from the airport. The staff were faultless and really made our break.

However, we took a silver room and were placed at the back of the hotel overlooking bins and there was considerable noise on the Saturday night from the restaurant bard that we had to phone reception. It was a humid weekend and we put the air conditioning on which was so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation let alone sleep.

We won't be going back as there are other hotels that we now want to try but I think if you have a gold or platinum room at the front then it would be a fantastic stay, if not expensive.

My wife and I stayed on on a cycling holiday of the island. Very good room, staff extremely helpful.
The only downside was the food. As vegetarians, the choice would have been reasonable if both restaurants had been open, but only the stakhouse restaurant was open on the Sunday night in July when we arrived and the choice was very limited.

Rooms very good, food excellent, restaurant service totally abismal considering what you pay for the hotel. Better service in a restaurant adjoining a Premier Inn. With the restaurant half full they sat us next to a group of 8 men who had been drinking for a considerable time, they were not out of order just extremely loud so we could not easily talk amounght ourselves. Two and a half hours for our meal, once the wine was delivered we ended up pouring it ourselves, not a problem the wine water did comment that we were doing his job but we never saw him again. We then had to find a waiter to order our desert having waited 20 minutes with no one coming near the table.
Some management or training definitely required.

Staff were at hand ready to help with luggage even before we got out of the car on arrival. Very friendly feel and very welcoming. That got us off to a great start. The hotel is magnificent with further improvements to the outside terraced area and valley garden since our last visit. Part way down the Fermain valley towards the sea, the hotel is in a beautifully tranquil spot. Our room, a gold standard room on the top floor with balcony in main part of hotel (note, 'Venue rooms are in a separate building overlooking the main road at the top of the Hotel site), was pristinely clean, with a large 6 foot wide double. Very comfortable and well appointed but quite warm in the early summer weather - could probably have done with a fan. Bar is well stocked and has a nice relaxing atmosphere; they even had Brew Dog Punk IPA on draft! If you want a livelier bar then head for the cocktail bar in the Rock Garden restaurant in another part of the hotel. Ocean restaurant serves great quality food but be sure to book your preferred table time in advance of your arrival otherwise you may be disappointed. It can get quite busy as the restaurant clearly has a very good reputation with locals. Same can be said for the Rock Garden restaurant. Breakfast is a little bit more special than you find in other hotels - yes there is a buffet for cereals, fruit and pastries but your cooked breakfast is freshly cooked to order. Dinner in the Rock Garden is well worth a mention. The Ocean restaurant is quieter, Rock Garden is livelier and specialises in steak from home and from far away. I had a 250gram Argentinian fillet cooked to perfection. Just brilliant! We will definitely go back again and we thoroughly recommend this hotel

our recent 3 night break was booked direct with the hotel who organised our room and the flights from Southampton,we went for the gold room which was located on the top floor of the main building and had a lovely view from the balcony down the fermain valley, our check in was quick and easy, we were quickly shown to our room and offered complementary drinks, the room was clean and tidy as was the rest of the hotel,we had booked dinner for 2 nights which is advisable, the ocean restaurant did not open on a Tuesday and Wednesday but the rock garden restaurant is open,we ate in the ocean restaurant on the first night but the service was very slow,it was nearly 2 and a half hours for the 3 courses this needs to be improved, breakfast is also served in the ocean restaraunt but was far better service with a good choice of cereals, pastries and fruit, your cooked breakfast is done to order but not to long to wait.the rock garden restaurant has better service but can get very busy and noisy, overall we enjoyed our stay, one thing to note is the flight path for Guernsey airport is directly over the hotel so there is some noise from the small planes, the first one takes off just after 7am and the last around 9pm

Truly luxurious hotel in a super setting
We occupied one of the top of the range rooms. I can only say that it was indeed a superb room with a view of Fermain Bay. Walking from the hotel we made St Peter Port in one direction and Saints Bay in the other. The hotel is well located for those who enjoy walking.

Came for my friend's wedding. The venue is in a beautiful location with amazing views. Decorated lovely, food was of a very high quality (visit Ocean restaurant and the Steak House), there is a pool and sauna on site as well as a cinema. We were in a Silver Venue room which was in the building set at the top of the grounds and the room was immaculate. I have high standards when it comes to accommodation and this hotel would definitely be a 5star if they worked on the service quality via training. All staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, however orders in the restaurant at breakfast consistently came out wrong despite staff writing them down, and we had to wait quite a while for service. The restaurant wasn't overly busy so no real excuse. One evening we went to order drinks from the bar and were invited to take a seat and someone would come over, however after 15min of waiting no one had come over so I went back up to the bar to order. Other than that, the stay was perfect and the afternoon tea we had in their on site tea room after checking out was delicious as well! If the service was tightened up then this would most definitely be a 5 star hotel! Thank you for a lovely stay, I would certainly recommend staying here!
