Stayed her for 3 nights at beginning of November. Thoroughly enjoyable experience which started with the booking as the hotel organised everything. Friendly and helpful staff (especially Gavin). Great location even if weather not good. Ate in both restaurants at hotel and had one of the best steaks we have ever eaten. Used local buses which were excellent although hotel organised transfers to and from airport. Hotel managed and maintained to a high standard which added to the overall enjoyment.

We booked a 4 night stay with my 9 and 10yr old and in laws. Lovely hotel, frontline staff, waiters etc are very good however, the senior staff seem to lack the sparkle factor and rather than try and accommodate your request or offer a compromise, the word No seems to be used a little too often. My wife swam in the pool only to find her hair turn green! 2 other ladies had this experience too. Rather than apologise and offer a solution, the reception manager told us effectively it was my wife's fault as she had blonde hair!! We also requested an extra night at the end of our break as we were actually having a nice time. No incentive offered to entice us to stay the extra night when i asked, the price is the price!. Very shortsighted as we would have spent money in the bar, tea rooms and restaurants but instead you had an empty room! The Rock Garden restaurant is awesome, the 2 lads behind the bar are worth their weight in gold as is the restaurant manageress. The other managers could learn a thing or 2 from them! I doubt we will visit again, those working at the "coal face" are a credit to themselves. The managers let you down I'm afraid.

The hotel has everything you could wish for, therefore shall be returning in the future. Great views from Gold room no 34 but abit disappointed as not as big as lower floor rooms no17 onwards as shown on website. Tried to point this out to a member on reception and was told bathrooms ect were the same size.! but tried with another member of staff and was excellent and was very helpful and showed us a selection of different rooms. but abit late as near to end of our stay .Shame as everyone else is very polite and gave great service .Food excellent a bit expensive in restaurants but bar meals are available .Lovely pool abit of a steep walk to the beach but I am told staff will run you down if requested .Best hotel all round we have stayed on in Guernsey in years. Hope to return very soon.

Stayed for one night only in "The Venue" hotel, which an annex to the Fermain Valley. The room was furnished to a high standard. Very clean and well decorated. Had a meal in the "Rock Garden" restaurant, which is mainly for steak (they do other dishes). My steak was perfectly cooked. Restaurant staff polite, welcoming and friendly.

Overall had a comfortable nights sleep. Reception staff friendly and welcoming.

Will be back?.... You bet I will!

We stayed here for three nights over Christmas on an all inclusive package (not including drinks). The hotel is lovely, perched high on the hillside with fab views down the hill and out to sea. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and had a lovely ambience. The staff were unfailingly excellent. Friendly and efficient.
There was an afternoon tea laid on for us when we arrived - the full monty; sandwiches (without crusts, obviously), scones and cakes.
The food was excellent and even with having to feed a number of us on Christmas day, the food was still served promptly and was delicious.
Walking down to the beach you can go in both directions along the cliff path walks and if you go left, you will end up in St Peter Port. But it's a challenging walk, so take sturdy shoes and wear layers!
My niggles were few. My room was baking hot even with no radiators on, the iron in the wardrobe took up most of the hanging space and I had a hair dryer with the shortest flex ever which required me to perform Houdini like manoeuvres to dry my hair. There was only one free plug socket in the room - at floor level. So to make a cup of tea, I either had to boil the kettle at floor level or unplug the fridge or telly to do so. My final whinge is the piped music. You couldn't escape it - it was too loud and they played the same Christmas CD on loop. For three days. Nice unobtrusive classical music would have been acceptable, if required at all.
But they were minor niggles and overall we had a wonderful time and it was a very relaxing way to spend Christmas. Oh and they gave us all a Christmas stocking filled with goodies - I now possess a splendid chopping board with a map of Guernsey on it. It was a nice touch.

My boyfriend and I booked a Seaview room as a treat after a very busy year, but we were not leaving with the smiles we expected. Everyone raves about this hotel, and I agree, the room was beautiful the food at the Rock Garden was the best meal I've had. So what went wrong? Well we went for a swim at the pool and the sauna was off, just with a small note advising you need to ask at reception for it to be turned on, ok fine, but there's no phone to call reception and we hadn't brought our mobiles (because we were swimming) so unless we walk through the hall and restaurant in our swimming stuff we couldn't get it on. More importantly, after our short trip the pool my hair was dyed a horrible green colour, which would not wash out. Apparently something that happens quite a lot, not that the manager wanted me to know. I felt like a nagging teenager who was just annoying them. I was given a pint of tomato juice to fix it myself, and when it didn't work I was given a carton and told to try again. Eventually (after about an hour and too many showers) my hair was relatively back to normal, but still had no apology from anyone. Was just advised the pool chemical levels were normal and it was essentially my own fault for being blonde. At this point we really were not sure whether or not to stay, we had both been looking forward to the meal at the Rock Garden, after a lot of tooing and frowing, we were grudgingly offerer a free drink and something off the meal. Which was so worth it. The restaurant was amazing, the 2 Liverpool guys were hilarious and so apologetic for the green hair incident. The manageress also appollogised for the hair incident despite it having nothing to do with the restaurant. They saved our stay! If it hadn't been for them, we would have been very disappointed! Will definitely return to the Rock Garden, but unlikely to stay at the hotel again.

We stayed in a Platinum room with lovely views across the valley and out to sea from the French doors and balcony. The room was large and nicely furnished with all normal accessories included plus a decanter of sherry. The food in both restaurants was superb and the staff without exception were very professional and friendly.

Very well equipped hotel with everything one could want in the room and an excellent breakfast. Good value for money.
But......
I booked the cheapest room advertised. There was no mention at the point of sale that it was in an annexe, a steep climb from the main hotel. This was made clear after booking by an eMail from the hotel; but not having stayed before it is difficult to construct an accurate impression of the annexe and the nature of the hill between it and the hotel in advance (I tried and failed by looking on the hotel website). It is steep and as someone with heart disease it probably wasn't the best option for me carrying a case! I arrived after dark and realised in the morning that it was possible to drive between the hotel and the annexe - but this was not explained or suggested. Also, having advised that I was arriving by boat with a car it would have been intelligent of someone to advise in advance that the main road from the port to the hotel was blocked by roadworks and a complex diversion was necessary. This incurred a further delay to an already delayed journey (bad weather). Overall, a very functional 4 star hotel but lacking heart and soul, in my judgement.

All of the staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food is great. The rooms are lovely and all the little touches make it a special place to stay. Good location just outside of the town. The hotels complimentary driver will take you to various locations and the local bus service is great for getting round the island

This is very short and sweet as everything was perfect! The room amazing, clean, cozy, stylish. Complimentary sherry, chocolates and the normal tea and coffee but also amazing ground coffee. The view from my balcony was amazing (room 36) the room was silent all night and pitch black. The evening half board was beautiful and the surroundings lovely. Breakfast was fast and good. Only thing was the bacon was overcooked so did resemble card board but that is a very minor point. You can have breakfast in your room with no room service charge, which is fantastic. Big soft towels and robe for you in the bathroom and beautiful toiletries and shower. The staff were so helpful and friendly. All round 10/10 and that was without even a visit to the pool ❤️
