was a bit apprehensive about booking a golf resort hotel as I imagined loads of golfers milling about and ducking golf balls all the time but as I had left my booking a little late didn't have much of a choice, well what a bit of luck, it was superb the golf course is hidden out of site and the hotel is set in lovely gardens with an attractive lake and the golf course although out of site did look very nice if you fancied a round. The staff are very friendly and are always smartly dressed and are happy to help you if needed the bedroom was large and very clean as was the bathroom and the bed was massive and the room was cleaned every day, the breakfast was superb, something for all tastes and plenty of it with attentive staff who made sure you had all you needed. The spa area and pool has just been refurbished and is top notch I doubt you could find better, this is a top hotel and well worth a visit and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay and well done to all the staff for all their hard work in making this such a nice place to stay.

My husband and I stayed over as we were attending an event at the hotel. Our room was on the top floor and had a stunning view across the fountain with a little balcony which we used to enjoy the sunshine before the event started.
The room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. We also tried the newly refurbished pool before checking out. There is still work to be done in this area but we were very impressed with what we saw.

Several of us stayed here for a long weekend break. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff, clearly very well trained. The rooms are very comfortable, with huge beds (6 ft?), and loads of pillows. Unfortunately, our departure was delayed by one or two days, because no flights came in or out due to bad weather, and the hotel was already fully booked. So we had to transfer to another hotel, which was not quite of the same standard. It only served to emphasise what a very good destination St Pierre Park was.

We stayed at the OGH for 4nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is first class and well worthy of its five star rating. On arrival we were given a welcome drink whist waiting for the room to be ready. The reception staff were incredibly welcoming especially Michael and Stuart the porter. The staff at the OGH are amazing, never is anything too much trouble and the service is truly excellent.
We were in room 312 and although on the small side it was excellently appointed. Each night sweets were left on the bed with a complimentary local newspaper. On our anniversary when returning to our room we had a wonderful surprise, as on the bed there were cakes and a bottle of bubbly with the bed decorated with rose petals. This was a truly lovely gesture from the hotel and made a wonderful end to our day.
The food and service at breakfast was second to none,it was so incredibly organised. The hotel is ideally situated for walking to the harbour in St Peters Port. There is an outdoor bar called the Prince of Wales about 50 yards from the hotel where a pint of lager and medium glass of wine costs £7.40.There is a restaurant called the Crows Nest overlooking the harbour which is really excellent and extremely good value for money.
We felt that the Old Government House truly made us feel very special and we would not hesitate to return and encourage people that this is a truly wonderful hotel to stay in.
Our stay was booked through Guernsey Travel.com on a 4 nights for the price of three and this also included free transfers to and from the hotel and airfares.

We stayed there for a week, last week. We had a King size room with sea view. The room was very good and comfortable. Bit of creaking floor from the room above when people walk around...at 6am. But only noticed on one day. Otherwise quiet room.
Excellently placed for walking into town.
Breakfast was good, in a nice bright dining room.
We ate in twice and food was good, once in the main dining room and the other night in the Curry Room.
Would stay there again. Oh yes must say all the staff were really friendly and helpful. We even got a postcard to home saying thank you for staying.

We stayed in the OGH hotel overnight. The hotel itself was luxurious and had all the amenities you'd expect from a 5 star. Excellent bar, good choice for breakfast, beautiful room. But the main reason for the 5 star review is for the service. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and it was clear that the hotel had many 'regulars' who were greeted as old friends. Such a nice atmosphere. But for me the staff went over and above when I made the silly mistake of leaving my mobile phone in the bar and realising just as I was walking onto the plane to come home! A simple phone call and I was reassured. My phone had been found and the hotel organised for it to be posted back to me special delivery - they even emailed me the tracking number and details so that I knew it was safe. What could have been a frustrating end to a lovely weekend was turned right around. Thank you OGH hotel!

This was our 2nd stay at the Old Government House and it was even more enjoyable than last year.

On arrival the reception staff even remembered our dog’s name which made us feel welcome from the start.

Good selection and quality at breakfast with attentive and professional service.

A special thanks to Andi & Michael who always greeted us with a smile and went out of their way to make our stay special and we had the secure feeling that nothing was too much trouble.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Guernsey, for the luxurious hotel of course but more importantly the staff and service.

Lovely hotel and a nice location in the centre of StPeter Port. The food in the brasserie was superb, however the room and bathroom were a little small. Very pleasant staff and although we didn’t have it, the afternoon tea looked delicious.

Stayed at the Old Government House (OGH) in St Peter’s Port for four nights, having booked a corporate rate through work.

Check in lasted all of one minute, just how I like it and I was shown to my room, room 324. Note there was no lift in my part of the building.

The room had a very large bed with a sofa, chair and table, desk, wardrobe and ensuite bathroom. The style was a bit old fashioned for me but everything was good quality, apart from the bath having a shower curtain (not very premium these days - most other high end hotels seem to have glass visors). The shower curtain smelt slightly mouldy.

Nice Clipper teas are provided with a tea pot. Good quality L’Occitane toiletries provided in the bathroom.

The turn down service in the evening brings a biscuit / sweets etc

Staff are good. I received a call soon after checking in asking if all was OK.

Having booked the corporate rate, I received four drinks vouchers on check in, one for every night of my stay.

Breakfast was on the whole good. There was a buffet of pastries, cheeses, meats, bread, cereals, yoghurts, fruits and juices. There is also a menu for items to be ordered from the kitchen. I tried the eggs royale (tasty but the hollandaise sauce was a bit watery), the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon (very tasty) and the full English (whilst nice, didn’t have beans so not a proper full English).

Service is the restaurant for breakfast is rather formal.

As OGH is part of Red Carnation Hotels, don’t forget to add your Virgin Flying Club number to your booking for currently 2,000 miles per night.

Overall, a very good hotel but old fashioned. Service in the restaurant is a bit too formal for me.

The hotel is a classic building. Perhaps it was actually a Government House once. It has marbled floors and pillars at the entrance, wooden panels and has a real period feel. The rooms are very pleasantly decorated in a period style, bathroom highly contemporary and immaculate. Mine had both bathtub and shower. Great that not only does it have tea and coffee in the room, it has ground coffee and a cafetiere to prepare it in. Top points for that - it is so rare to have more than instant. Full breakfast was pleasantly modest and well prepared, Delighted that it included traditional black pudding. Would have been nice, though if good quality wholemeal bread had also been provided. Breakfast tables, especially centrally by the window, have a fabulous view over the bay, Herm and Jethou.
