We have just returned from our anniversary weekend at the OGH. It was a 5 star experience from start to finish. We booked the Tennefest weekend break and it was amazing. We were picked up from the airport, enjoyed a delicious three course meal, with wine on our first evening.
The breakfast was outstanding, superb choice and extremely tasty.
It was our wedding anniversary and the hotel surprised us with a bottle of bubbly, chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolates. What really stands out in this hotel is the staff, nothing is to much trouble and the service is the best we have ever had on our travels.
We have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

We carefully chose our room via the website hoping for something special, for our first mummy and daddy only break away without children for quite some time. We opted for a seaview king room. We felt badly let down by its 'generous' size and that of the accompanying bathroom. It was almost impossible to use the toilet without first moving the toilet roll holder, and it all felt rather small and squashed in. Not what I expect when paying GBP275 per night.

We ate one night at La Nautica in St Peter Port - great fish restaurant and fabulous puddings. And another night we ate in the Curry Club. We had great and attentive service but the food was a let down. The lamb curry was tough and chewy and really didn't taste of much.

The people working in the hotel are all friendly and greeted us every time we saw one of them. We were pretty self sufficient in terms of concierge services as we were visiting relatives on the island, but the staff were happy to help with umbrellas when there was a downpour etc.

Breakfast was delicious and we were able to have an lovely lunch outside in the October sun.

We'd probably go back as we have relatives living on Guernsey and it is one of the best hotels on the island. However I'd check first on the size of room in context of the price being paid.

The title is taken directly from the hotel mantra on our room access card. We can assure you that this is what you can expect from your stay at this wonderful hotel. We were met at the airport by a warm and welcoming ‘Guernseyman’ and driven through the beautiful countryside by the private hire car arranged by the hotel. On arrival we were welcomed by name and upgraded, without request to sea view rooms. What a blissful start to our two short nights in this wonderful hotel. The hotel employees work as a team and made us feel so welcome, as if we spent two days every week with them. The effortless ambiance created by the staff are exemplary and could be down to excellent training, a faultless recruitment department or perhaps it is the personalities of the warm and quietly efficient lovely people who have chosen to work in this beautiful hotel. I don’t know, but I can assure you it works. ‘Generous hospitality and passionate service’ is what we had the pleasure of enjoying during our short stay. We will certainly return.

I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past but this was the first visit for six years, Since then inevitably there have been changes and the hotel is now part of the Hand Picked Hotel chain. I always thought that this hotel was almost perfect, this time whilst it still offers a special experience I do think think it may have slipped a point or two. Rooms are excellent and well appointed. I was disappointed that Cafe Renoir has closed and is now a bar/restaurant operated by a separate franchise which meant that any costs could not be charged to the room and had to be settled there and then. The Victor Hugo restaurant could hardly be faulted the food was exquisite and the service in the main was pretty good. The big minus was the menu, it did not change during the duration of my stay. The old Victor Hugo menu changed daily and always came with a special course which was a "gift from the chef". Service could hardly be faulted but whereas a few years ago the front of house staff new your name that sadly is no longer the case
Will I stay here again - i very much hope so but I do wish I could turn the clock back,

One-night business trip and this hotel did the trick. Very nice room, with a balcony and french doors ... my room was overlooking the car park, but it was still lovely to have the doors open and let the evening sun shine in.
Nice bar meal in the evening and a very good breakfast, will certainly stay again.

We stayed at St Pierre Park Hotel, we had a bit of a problem with the room for a start, but Kristaps the assistant manager went out of His way and was very helpful. To hit top marks part of hotel could do with a bit more TLC.
Most of the staff were most helpful and bedrooms were clean and tidy. Would go again.
Need a car if you go.

Very well equipped rooms and staff who couldn't have done anymore to make our stay comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Spa and pool area excellent. I visited as part of a hockey team and we were very well looked after.

I had never been to Guernsey before but am an old hand with the other island.

I'd been ready the reviews on here over the few months before we arrived and on the whole things looked good some people had their niggles and complaints as you would expect, well when we arrived the staff we very helpful and the room we had 166 was amazing the bed was massive lost my wife in it.

We were lucky with our room it was on the very end of the hotel over looking the tennis court on the ground floor and the patio area we had was very relaxing after a hard day shopping in St Peter's Port.

The room itself was well equipped even had one of those gadgets the George Clooney advertises on TV.

Starting with breakfast a wide choice of continental or full English. What was good to see was Free From section separate from the other food.

The bar was run well and the staff service was very good and we did prefer eating in there rather than the Victor Hugo restaurant which to be honest wasn't really our style of eatery but the wine went well with our meal.

We were entertained by the taking down for safety reason these old trees which was a real shame, but the skill in which this was done was amazing to say the least. The big kicker was that we were going to photograph these trees on the second afternoon but the sun was in the wrong place then the next morning the cutting had begun d'oh.

Access to St Peter's Port from the hotel is very simple and although I had my car in the car park it only moved from the ferry and back again the rest of the time we used the bus stop just outside Waitrose the bus numbers are 41 and 42 on a regular basis...only downside the buses stop running about 8:30 from town but it is only £1 per trip on any bus and there is a route 91 and 92 I think that go right round the whole island for a £1.

We had fun and look forward to our next trip to the hotel, yes there were one or two little things that were annoying but not everywhere will be perfect all the time and the staff are only human.

finally, it is worth spending the evening at least once in St Peter's Port and the taxi ride is only about £6 back after the last bus. We found a great place on the front call Mora and another in the town called Dix-Neuf...both worth a visit

We have stayed here many times before, we have always found it to be pleasant if slightly dated.

It has now changed hands, and although the staff ethos, of always going out of their way to be helpful, and cheerful (Even to the extent of finding a small handkerchief that had been gathered up with the breakfast table napkins, and returning it washed and laundered) remains, the changes are impressive.

The hotel is in the midst of a transformation, from a pleasant but tired old duck into a glorious swan, the rooms are being refurbished, and now have ironing boards instead of trouser presses,
good size bathrobes in all rooms, plus bottled water.

I can't wait to return next year, to view all of the proposed upgrades to the rooms, at which point I will be only too pleased to change my overall rating from very good, to superb.
